Hi,

I don't mind Dutchies but all the sharp rocks near the shore put me off......any other cruisey wave spots I could go without this hazard?

Dutchies is fine the gap to launch from just north of the stairs is obvious, get somebody to show you. And/or just body drag the first few metres.
Or carry your gear to the south of the groyne and launch there it's all sand (but I have not seen it this season)

Persist with it, as the wave being offshore a bit helps so much when learning to wavesail.

I've found avalon a nice place to get into waves.
Last time i was there it was + half mast but further down the reef it just breaks into the channel.
This way you stay out of the way of the guys sailing up the point too.
Nice sand beach and good rigging area
Just a bit flukey getting out due to the wind shadow. but once your out there it's nice.
Keyhole in the reef can be a bit tricky to negotiate.
