Hi everyone,

I'm located in the Trigg area and have really been kicked in the nuts by this summer's lack of surf. Certainly no lack of wind though.....

ive noticed a few guys windsurfing the Nth Beach area and it kind of sparked up my desire to have a go. I kind of want to do something that can take me away from crowds and will allow me to cover some distance. I don't know, something about kiting just scares the **** out of me....probably the kiting part.

im 42, 80kg and can surf, swim etc and I would be focused on getting into the waves when I'm up to it.

where should I start with this, (equipment wise) given that I'm able to ride small boards and able to put in a decent amount of time each week?

Cheers!

^^Yep.
Learn the basics and water starting.
With surfing skills you should be able to negate getting the bigger learner gear and go straight to the larger wave gear first if you get the lessons for it.
Otherwise try and borrow/find/buy a larger board to learn on. (130L ish)
The sails/boom/mast will be transferable from the learner board to a wave board once you're ready
