Anyone know the person involved? I have some news from another person involved in the rescue efforts that Police informed him the person had passed away.

Man found unconscious floating on board with wingsurfer at Melville yesterday, given CPR and mouth to mouth by local windsurfers, till ambulance came and took over, pronounced deceased today. Male, with small build, balding, and age about 55.

I only got to know more of Andrew from winging late afternoons at the river past 2 weeks. Wish had known him a little bit more .. he truly loves his wing foiling and I am sure he loves other aspects of his life as well. Past week, he truly been enjoying progressing on his bright red swing and some says he looks like a bird gracefully flying above water out there. He is also a fun winging buddy ... hooting you along as I barely made past a few meters of switch stanced post jibe 'wobble' HHH ... and always experimenting e.g. on Saturday he was so happy to try out his Armstrong 'power link' bar and with it, he was gliding along down-wind effortlessly. Yesterday, he said he was going to work on his tacks and I am sure he enjoyed trying his best and also scoring in that 20-30knt session too.

Great effort from the crew trying their best to revive him on the beach plus also the full 5-person crew from St.johns doing all they can. A nice bloke, gonna miss him out there lots.

So everyone, take care and enjoy being out there in the water, keep an eye on out for everyone and if you feel unwell, straight back to shore.

So incredibly sorry to hear.

There was a bunch of guys at PP on Sunday with a large board and wingding helping a guy who is a paraplegic go sailing. I found out that this guy had a surfing accident last year - probably late 30's. Fantastic to see him out with help from his mates and a modified board getting wet again.

Just makes you realise how things can change in an instant. RIP and thoughts to everyone who tried to help.
