"woodies" is an over populated dump with ****, if any amenities. Good for the locals that "have to go there" Make sure you lock your car.
It reminds us of Meekatharra.... Don't stop there unless you really have to.
I agree, the break-ins and kiters at Woodies are enough to keep me away, but if your chasing plenty of flat water and decent wind woodies is pretty damn good.
I transitioned from river sailing to "ocean" sailing at Woodies about 20 years ago and I don't want to sound like a "those were the days" sort of whinger but those were the days --- when you could drive the old Landy onto the north side of the beach, throw the gear into the water 5metres from the car and leave the dog to look after your car and gear.
The biggest issues were treading on a crab or hitting the net that the professional fisherman put out occasionally....
Yup Pre-kiter days it was one of the big 3 winter spots and uncrowded. Drive onto the sand nestled in between a couple of dunes to minimise the wind, then sail 5m away from your car. Back to the car for hot coffee / soup etc every hour or two, and back out on the water all day, 10 guys out
