I used to sail regular at Pinnaroo when no kites existed. When times changed the kites discovered Pinnaroo but used to rig and launch in main boat ramp access and windsurfers sailed slightly North towards Mullaloo - fine till the numbers rose -almost immediately problems arose with the kites working down wind towards us, after numerous close calls and confrontations I got sick of dealing with unreasonable attitudes and moved to North beach and Crazy's as did other sailors. I don't know what is wrong with some of these guys!
As an after thought have you noticed that even though the Swan river has a large kite area seperate from the Windsurfers who rig and sail near the car park it seems that even that is not enough and they have encroached on this windsurfing area, windsurfers stay out of their zones - why can't they do the same ???? It is insane to launch a kite among so many windsurfers. I think the problem is that as their sport grows they are actually crowding each other to the point that they will launch anywhere irrespective of whether windsurfers are there already.
I am not anti kite each to thier own - but I have to say they do seem to contain an unusual amount of inconsiderate 'tools'.
