My car came with 2 push button electronic keys.
Took it to my local 'specialist' locksmith (as opposed the mall guy who does keys, shoes and fake tattoo's) and they laser cut me a blank for $30.
Now I just lock my real keys in the car - I have to do some locking and unlocking with the 'real' keys once I get hold of them, otherwise the car wont start too.
:-)
ps - the real keys are several hundred to replace, I've heard $200-$500 depending on the car because of the coding etc.
Good luck.
I got a few quotes for a replacement key for my Mitsubishi Magna, the cheapest I found was $350 as it is a coded key. I am screwed if I lose the only key I have as it will cost thousands to replace and re-code the car not to mention the locksmith to get into the car, replace the lock in the doors etc.
