Transport WA is conducting a review of equipment carried on all recreational vessels. It shows they have very little understanding about windsurfing or kiteboarding.

This link will hopefully get you there.

We need to get as may WA windsurfers as possible to fill in the survey to hopefully get the windsurfers perspective across or else windsurfers will have to carry a lot of extra safety gear when sailing more than 400m from the shore in unprotected waters which is the case when sailing off a beach. Windsurfers sailing off a beach should be treated the same as surfers.

Some of the updated-wording of the various proposals - such as anchors, bailing, etc - is a good change... as having an unworkable rule, is just silly.

But other wording is terrible - there are numerous rescues of SUP's, and yet they are exempt. Similarly, a reference to 400m is a safe swimming distance - that may be so, but that needs to be supported by a cross-reference

Was it last year they asked for our feedback and ignored it promptly?
I had a look and re-done the survey again.
It relaxes some rules, but no change for us.
