After a number of frustrating windless weekends I decided to try fishing instead and booked three days in Green Head...only to find out it will be too windy for fishing.

As it stands, NW on Saturday, W on Sunday.

I'll pack the gear, but have no idea where people sail around Green Head?

What wind is good for Billy Goat?

It was mainly NW. Got in to close to the jetty, and I was never too comfortable over the shallow reef.
A guy living nearby advised me where to go next time, showed me where to drive along the beach etc. Very nice of him.

I had fun, but the wind was patchy so the fun didn't last.

He showed me the 4wd path that goes North along the beach for some 400m. Apparently you can turn to the beach there and "that's where they have competitions, and they all camp there then".

I think there is an event to be organised there in a few weeks?

However I already rigged up on the grass near the jetty, and was too lazy to de-rig. So I carried the gear on my head 100m North. Wasn't far enough to bypass the reefs. It's a very nice spot though.

On my way home, I spotted the dirt road to Billygoat bay, but didn't have time to check it. The South Bay was also looking good, but as Mark said, you need to get a bit further down the beach to get some wind.
