Hi all

Got a mate landing at perth airport, arriving silly oclock am next Friday. He's bringing his kit i.e. board, quiver bag of sails etc.

Can anyone recommend a windsurf friendly Taxi co? I'm thinking that the taxi rank at daft o'clock with windsurfing gear might not be the best guarantee of a successful ride!

Cheers

Bernie

I wouldn't recommend Perth taxis at the best of time.
best bet would be one of the Special Charter Vehicle companies.

Be a mate and pick him up. Or if you can't do it, ask someone on this forum to get him and make him feel welcome to Perth, WA. Yep sorry i can't i'm about 1700kms away next week.

Heh that'd be the go, and will be the method of last resort!
but I'm in driving him up to Gero first thing and was aiming at a good nights kip, besides he's big enough and ugly enough to negotiate a paid ride as long as they can fit the kit in!

how long between when he lands and when you go to gero?

Make him wait, get some kip on an airport lounge and pick him up from there!

PM me and I'll send you a number for a Perth based cabbie with a station wagon who will carry the gear.

Cant be much of a mate though if you aren't even willing to go and pick him up yourself !

If ^^^ can't help, then send me a PM and I'll pass on a number for someone else. He is also a cabbie with a station wagon. Name is Phil, and he usually works nights so might not answer if he is sleeping during the day.

I only know of him through another forum Perth Street Bikes (motorbikes) where is a regular and entertaining poster of stories about cabbie life in Perth.

Just keep in mind that unless you know otherwise, I think most station wagon cabs have cargo barriers installed. I arrived in Perth a couple of years ago and found to my surprise that almost all wagons had them fitted. The guy minding the rank at the airport found one without a barrier for me, but it took a while.

^^^^^ THIS. I am sure you are correct and this will be a problem. I am fairly sure pretty much every station wagon cab has them now and it might be very hard or even impossible to find one that doesn't have a cargo barrier installed.

You best bet would be to pre-book a MAXI-taxi (van type mini-bus) as then boards and sails can be placed just inside the sliding door.

Same request. Coming over from tassie at 9.30 at night and need to get my sailing gear transported to parents house at ocean reef.
Leaving for Geraldton next day.
Have looked into maxi taxi.. About 85 _ 100 bucks.
I think that's,about the price of a taxi anyway.??
Anyone want a carton? going that way on 20 th let me know.

Cheers

I have a SUV with roof bars and I've just gotten my licence to be a part time Uber driver

I would be happy to help windsurfers / kiters with the transportation of their gear from the airport.

Cheers

Yes, Uber drivers need to change their insurance class before they are accepted by Uber
