1050 is my bread and butter foil, love this thing, gets up in light winds, responsive, fun and great glide. Just a lot of fun and easy to dial in.

How does the 1050 do in light wind for a bigger/95kg rider? I'm on a 90L board, am under 20 sessions in the sport- currently use the 1150. It is uber stable, gets up light wind, but slow, draggy and predictably doesn't turn so great. I'd love to get a wing I can progress on, be completely off the red fuse as I prone surf on the black, but want to be sure I have a viable option for the many light wind days at my local. Hoping the 1050 may fit the bill?

Perfect. Thanks for responding with that info. This gear is so specific/dependent to weight and conditions- it really helps to have info like that before laying out the ca$h! I was on an older version 95L Naish- like it but- Box/footstrap locations not quite right so just ordered up a 90L Appletree Jazz thats enroute as we speak. Can't wait!

Same for me... 88kg, sold by 1060BSC and short red fuse and got a 1050HPS, US black fuse and 400p rear... got used to it straight away and not much difference getting up but much more top end speed which is awesome.

I have just done same...got 1050 and 930 to replace 910 and 1150....need a few light sessions to confirm I can sell 1150 but simplicity of one black fuse is alluring, currently 92kg

I used a 7.5 sqm wing. In gusts it was to big but in lulls I needed it, best would be an 6.5 I guess but I dont got one. I mostly used the PNG 1150 with it. Was speedy with cool glide but not so turntable. Then I switched to the BSC 970 and it exactly closed the gap in manoverability but now I missed the glide and the speed a bit and I earned more Touch downs. So I started to ask me if the HPS 1050 could be the missing link here or can even replace the other two!? What u think? I am intermediate now, started to stand tacks more often, jibes no problem also switch. I like to surf the downwind swell. I am around 95 kg. I think this day was mostly around 15 knots but with heavy gusts as it was on a lake in middle of the country surrounded by gentle hills.

I still think the 1050 is a great foil especially at our weight of 95+ kg. Some people say the ART 1099 is better but I would like to hear a direct comparison from the perspective of a heavy rider.

Jake, what fuse do you use with that 1050?

I (90kg) use the 1050 for DW SUP foil, good fun for me when conditions are 13-20 knots. I have tried the 1099, it has a fairly higher stall speed glides amazing pumps really efficiently but doesn't turn that well. I use the axis 75cm mast and I could feel flex in either the mast or the wings with the 1099, no problems with the 1050. I prefer the 1050 because it turns much better. 1099 has a higher stall speed than the 980 HPS. I use the 980 20 knots and up for DW.

82kg, 38 sessions, riding a Fanatic Sky Wing 125L generally on flat water, 6.5m wing in 12-20mph. Good upwind/downwind/startup skills but still finding jibing difficult. What fuse and stabilizer would you recommend with a 1050? So many choices. I don't plan on a carbon mast......for now.

I got the black short fuse and the 420 speed rear wing. Don't get the standard fuse - that's for wind foiling on a windsurf setup. I also have the HM Carbon mast - expensive but great. First day will be tricky to get up because it's a high aspect foil and you have to get the timing down. But once you make that first turn downwind, you'll feel the glide! Happy gybing!

I (95 kg) had both (1050 and 1099). Sold the 1099, kept the 1050. If money didn't matter, I would have kept both. In my opinion, the 1099 needs significantly more starting speed. The more chopy the more difficult. Flat water (in between the waves) helps a lot. This has led to the fact that I have always chosen the handwing with the 1099 a size larger than I would have done with another foil. Easier to start but than annoying to go. The glide on the 1099 is really fantastic. In my opinion, noticeably better than the 1050. For that alone, I would have liked to keep the 1099. The turn didn't convince me, more of a longboard feeling. Used with ultra short fus and 450 P and 375 P stab. Some people report that it works much better with the ad fus. I have been 3 month on the 1099 and about 1 year on the 1050. Still like the 1050 for light wind or very choppy conditions a lot. If it is more windy and more clean I jump on the HPS 930. Based on my experience even the HPS 930 is easier to get going than the 1099. Or maybe it is the improvement of riding-level. Cheers

Sorry don't know how to add prior posts. But what u think about the wind condition. With what strength and wing size the heavier guys can go for the 1050? I am intermediate yet. Means I started to learn tacks, got good pump tech I think. Not brilliant but good. What is realistic even if Homespot it's a more gusty BS lake?

?hm Marc this time I just hold the png 1150 and I use the normal short. Which is pretty long compared with my old gong setup. Someone gave me the idea to try an shorter. And the advanced shorts should exactly do what I miss. Make the png more turny. Maybe someone got experience here?

Hi Driks, I found great success with the 1150, crazy short, 370 freeride or 425p stabs. Very turny and responsive, the 425p giving it a bit more speed (could also go with 375p, or 400p stabs) I'm 85kg, riding a Fanatic 5' 0 SkyWing

I think I have confused myself.
I recently promoted myself from an Axis SES 940 set up to a HPS 1050 set up. What I have found is once it gets a little windy say 18knots plus the 1050 becomes just two hard and I get the 940 back out. Basically dropping from a 6m Unit to a 4m!am I under selling the wind range of the HPS1050?
I am 92kg and currently wing on flattish lakes with aspirations to hit the coast.

I am 86kg and love the HPS1050, just glides and glides with the 425 progressive stab, i use it from 8knts of wind with the strike 8m all the way up to 25-28knts with a 4.5m.The other day I went on my 880HPS with 4.5m as the sea had a lot of chop and swell, this was a bit harder to get up on foil, and was noticeably more skittish under foil, but again, flew up wind and glide was just ongoing. I love the HPS set up, just need to get a shorter board in the future.

Considering the 1050 HPS , me 75kg, ok in all wind to about 8 to 30kn and jybe in both directions.
I did have the 1050 before I could jybe and found it hard to jybe.
Now Considering it for Windwing down wind and obviously will still need to jybe.
As said I can jybe my current foils eg HPS 930 and ARTs 899, 799 and 699.
At 75kg will the 1050 still be a bit big for me jybing?
