After lots of deliberation, i think im going to get a Axis 1300 for light winds and super glide (low itermediate, 90kg + wetty using 110 and 6m unit that i might chop in for a 6.5 or 7m Slick..tbc), as an "upgrade" from my current Naish 2000.

I have read a few people on here loving the 1300 (or 1150)....What rear stabs are people using....as a general do it all for my skill, weight etc

- the flat 460?
- 440 allrounder?
- 420 with the tips?

(or if i cant source this lot...will go the 1800 HA Naish as fallback)

I'm on a 1150 with 440 tail. Had a 400 first but my jibe success rate dropped to 20%. With the 440 i got back to 95%. On a tiny lake with gusty Winds. I guess it is a matter of experience and skill.

Time on the water and giving your muscle memory time to adapt to the different equipment.

Over 2 years, I went...

1020/440 standard fuse
1050/440/400 short fuse
1050/409/370/460HA crazy short fuse
1300/370/340 ultra crazy short

Changing the rear stab or fuse makes a huge difference.

I have had more than 15 session including long downwiders (paddle) on the 1300 front wing. So far I've used the 370 and 460 and a chopped 440 (now 320). The best by far eas the 460. This was on the short fuse.

Update: i got the 1150 and 910 PNG in the end. And 420 stab.
Gybe succes was about 20%....then i tried a mates 500 stab and it was like i became Kai Lenny overnight.....gybes become 99%, going switch for as long as i want..swapping feet etc!
So now i need to buy somnething - do i go smaller than 500....but need to maintain the gybes etc....go to the 440?

Hey northy1 . The 440 axis is one of the easier stabs to control, they are cheap enough and plentiful, why make life difficult? Use the gear that provides the most fun, then as you improve get a faster stab mate. ??

Hi , do you have any experience of the 390 gap ? And how it would compare to the 440 ?
