I'm using this impact vest which has an integrated harness. I like the vest a lot (pockets, attachment points for leashes etc) but I don't always use the harness and it's sometimes annoying to have the hook protruding. It's possible to take it off, but you have to pull out the whole webbing belt so it's not practical. What I want is to replace the hook with a hook that can be easily clipped on/off. Anyone aware of such a product?

The ride engine nug easily clips on and off, but you need to remove a single screw from the side. Not sure I've seen something that comes off with hands only. In theory, you could fabricate a hook with a slot on the hook side that would allow you to thread the webbing out, but it would weaken the hook and potentially lead to failure. You wouldnt want to slot on the loaded side though.

I have the forward WIP wing vest Neo. Pretty similar to the impact vest you have but the hook is removeable, takes about 5 sec and it's never come off accidently. I'd say if you are racing and really loading up the wing it would not be as good as the impact vest as the webbing is a fair bit thinner so the load spread into your back isn't as good as a proper harness etc.

I saw these vests at a local shop for about $350. Looked pretty good, except I would agree, the hook looks a pain to remove. I'm currently using a waist harness and the hook roles flat when you lie on the board. Pretty handy!

Apparently the WIP doesn't like being laid upon. Hook them locks over harness lines!!!

I converted the non "wing" version of this vest. Hand sewed on some belt keepers and put a plastic support plate on the back which is held in place with Velcro. Bonus of the DIY version is that the hook will slide.
