Very interesting.
Which CNC design did you use? Any plans to try machining harder materials like G10?

I would have assumed the deck supports for the foil box would run lengthwise.

Yeah I initially thought that two but essentially the fin boxes in HD Foam are supported by the deck supports instead of the finbox HD Foam going through to the deck.

Everyone has a different thought process on how and what materials to build a board

Conclusion: 1500+ bucks is too cheap for a custom board!

Well done!!!

It looks like a MPCNC (Mostly Printed CNC).

Hi, I'm the guy in that video, as guessed by DTee, it's an MPNC that I adapted to machine "through" the table.
harder materials should be doable, some guys cut aluminum perfectly with it, so G10 should be OK.
I was planning to cut some wing hooks in some cork/glass sheets and stack them after to get a super strong one... I broken 2 3D printed ones already :)

and for the deck support I thought the same initially but discussing with a friend convinced me to go sideways.
not very scientific but the way I see it now is that lengthwise, the boxes already do a good job to spread the load on twice the length of the mast plate. but sideway bending efforts on on the mast are not spread as much, so having those 2 supports helps. it's all cover by some carbon patches anyway that also help spreading the load. So far it holds well !

Exactly well spotted, I'm 200%single ... not sure that can be wife friendly in an apartment any way you put it... may be with a shed far away it would be doable.

Great build! What's the weight and dimensions and how come you built your handles? I do my deck supports length ways (3 sections front to back) but only because it houses the centre rear straps nicely also my foil box's are square edged like yours but keep being reminded to create a v ??.

It's 5ft x 24in and is around 76L, ended up at 4.6kg without pad.
I'm making my own handles to get a shape I prefer, with a good undercut deep enough for the finger, so you have a much more secure grab than just a hole going straight down like a lot of handles now.
Also, I really wanted to try with the CNC :)
