Hi everyone,

I just wanted to ask if anyone has had the feeling they have some kind of spin out on the foil?

I sometimes have this when it's rather flat and having a bit more speed then usual.
Just going in a straight line, with good speed and power and then suddenly, in a split second it feels like you slip and are going to loose control...
What could be causing this? On lower speeds or going down a wave this issue does not occur.
(I don't think it's relevant to mention the foil brand I'm using.)

thanks,
Charlie

Could be the mast ventilating or you're breaching a wingtip causing ventilation.

Yep I think it is mast ventilation and I think I could guess the brand so maybe it is relevant.

So is this ventilation coming from the mast bending because of the force on it?

If it's the brand that we're guessing. It's often a mix of it's stickers and finish. Go into the kite forum and read the threads on mast finishes, then you can get a bit more educated on the topic.I assume you're washing your mast with water after every session, but it's not enough. You need to windex it, to remove salt/grease. As this alone is enough to spin you out. Then if still happening - wet sanding is next.

Mast ventilation probably. Make sure there are no scratches or graphics with edges you can feel on the mast and especially around the leading edge. Sanding the mast usually helps, 240 grit or higher. There are a few good tutorials on YouTube
The brand is definitely relevant! This is something that can be pretty much avoided by changing the design and finish.
