Quick straw poll, if a seller fails to mention a wing has been repaired when advertising it for sale, do you think this is dishonest or OK?

Nah - small repair, average job, but it wouldn't affect performance. If you're that precious over it - ask for $30 back to get it repaired.

The seller should have mentioned the repairs/damage, described the condition realistically and priced accordingly.

Not mentioning the damage is not a big deal if the general condition description and price were consistent.

Minor damage to the canopy is no big deal. Tape it up and go do some more damage. The rider who charges hardest on the mongrelest wing wins.

Damage to the dacron is more of a problem. It's structural, harder to damage in the first place and not really suitable for DIY quick fixes.

The tear in on the LE. This gives me concerns about the bladder. Have emailed the seller, and although they were extremely fast reply when I wanted to buy it, I haven't heard anything about the damage.

Should have been disclosed

Like selling any used item the condition needs to be fully disclosed, doesn't matter how small or if only cosmetic. Price should then reflect this.

Guess you really need to ask the question before you buy. Any damage or repairs. I only want it if it's like new.

I always get the buyer to check the kite/wing with me, inflated
show the repairs and be up front

had one guy years ago who didn't check, crashed the kite a few times and then accused me of deceit :-(

Two ways you could look at this:

Sorry to hear this happened, clearly rattled and not happy. I guess you'll need to cop it.
Buying used gear does leave you unfortunately open to the notion of buyer beware. If you're not open to buying damaged goods, why are you buying used and not new?
anyway, I'll just circle back to, unfortunate and sorry to hear it, but it is repairable, and very easily

I occasionally buy used, but, silly me, I trust sellers to tell the truth. Most people indicate the wing has been repaired. I've seen this mentioned over and over again.

If a seller fails to mention this, they're clearly hiding it.

This was a big store, so doubly disappointed. Clearly not too concerned with their brand.

Have you spoken to them - I hope so.

If it was a big store don't you have consumer rights, long distance selling, or did you buy local and not check it.
I would be extremely disappointed to receive a wing in that condition, unless it was described with additional pics.

No - it was interstate. The dealer has been in touch and seems to be genuinely trying to resolve it now.

I will always ask in future, but was just so used to sellers showing pics if there'd been a repair that I assumed everyone would do this. Caveat emptor.
