In one of the AWSI vids there was a red one at the Starboard area.

The Starboard DW board is the only DW board I've seen that has inserts for foot straps -- big plus IMO.

I'm not a dw super...so cannot say, but inserts adds some weight...and I move my feet so much on a 4'8...cannot imagine on a 7'2-7'6 lol.Is there a lot using inserts on dw board?

If you ask the top pros about straps for pumping, they all say NO. The sport has evolved to such high efficiency, they say they loose too much by not being able to move feet around on deck. Then you've got increased weight. I'm going to guess the starboard is heavy compared to the strapless Duotone.

The hybrid boards (combining the best of the traditional wing boards with the best features of the DW boards) from a number of manufacturers should be coming out in a few months based somewhat on the AFS "Blackbird" but shorter and maybe a little wider. I think they'll be geared more for flat water racing -- fast onto foil with quick and easy pop up from touch downs). I think Unifoil has one called the "Quiver Killer".

Footstrap inserts front and rear!

Just had my first session on my 18" width board (Sunuva Aviator Downwind 18 7'2" x 18" 103L)I must say the new trend of the long and narrow board is really working well for wing foiling in light wind. The hull speed in displacement mode is insane compared to the older generation of wing foil boards.I'm a little struggling on my first session with about 8-11kt wind onshore with choppy sea. It takes some time to get used to knee on the very narrow board and figure out the foot position.But it accelerates to takeoff speed with considerably less pumping. And piercing through the chop that normally will slow you down a lot.But for wing foiling only I think 20" may be a bit easier to use.


You can ask Sunova to put the footstrap inserts on the DW board. They also have the new wing board (Carver) with a 20" width which in my opinion is the optimal width for the wing board.

I think boards like that new Sunova Carver make a lot more sense, than lugging around a 7'6" + DW board. Maybe the long ones will get going a touch earlier but for all around usability, fitting inside vehicles, jumping a bit etc, 6 ft makes more sense to me. I bet we see lots more tail chopped DW boards for winging in the next 6 months

I've done 6'2, 6'8, 7'6. To me the 6'8 is the best all around size.

I made this 5'5 x 19 x 50L x 2.8kg little semi sinker board the other day and it is a killer, it gets up so so easy. I made it as a little fun wing board for strapless wave and free riding and it worked so much better than I even thought.
If you don't want to jump( like myself) then putting strap inserts in just a waste and unnecessary weight. Having it nice and light feels so good.

The board is really just a small version of the DW board we make.
