Newbie here, got a new wing but it didn't come with a pump. Been bumming pumps from friends at the beach. What brand, size of pump do you all recommend?

I don't recommend the duel action pumps that help get sup boards to high pressure. It's also good to have the little rope to attach to your wing while pumping.. Check with your local shops.. I'm very happy with my Naish pump and they are not expensive.

Got a Naish and another 2 way pump.
About 100 strokes needed.

Rope not really needed - just use the wing handleash - either on wrist, or place pump on top of leash while pumping...

Wings need more air than most kites so I'm glad I have a tall pump. Much quicker and easier on the back!
They are all pretty much made at the same factory. Mystic extreme pump for example.

I have the Mystic double action tall one.
Easier on the back as you do not bend over it so much and the double stroke makes initial inflation quicker.Single stroke to finish the job without grunting.

As for gauge reliability , pumps come with many connectors so it is easy to connect two pumps and see if gauges read the same.
I have xchecked the Mystic vs my old Decathlon pump and two others from kiters at the beach and they all read the same pressures. So i think they are generally good enough ,you just need to make the final strokes slow so it wont measure the spike press in the tube instead of the wing press.
