Hello
I know the best gliding boards are the narrow and long ones, but I like putting a short board (5'4") in my car with the family and stand up in choppy watters easily in a wide board. Could somebody mention some short and wide models which have checked that glide and take off well in light winds?
Thanks.

The older AK Phazers might suit you. They were quite quick up to plane, but not near an Midlength 5.6x90lThe whole thing is that lengthn really helps a lot with early planing and loosing width while keeping volume in. There are no really tricks to work around that. Short slim boards bcome too thick and corky.Short wide boards have more drag. choose your poison.

Omen Flux and learn to ride lower volume, added thickness is a curse.

The 85l F4 Emona V2 would be my suggestion. Very light and solid construction (around 4.5kg). And currently ridiculous cheap, since it is not a 2026.

I have used the 65 and 85, and a good friend of mine have the 85. Currently I am on the Julitta 85, mid length, and prefer that. But my buddy tried the Julitta as well, and still preferred his Emona V2.

As mentioned above: the old AK Phazers did well in this respect. I had two 90 Liters in a row but they kept falling apart after some abuse.
Gong Mint scores all the boxes, I have an 85 and a 105, which I bought for my family.
Both of them are easly pumped to take off speed and take off quickly and in a controlled manner, a lot better than the AK.
Gong Mint 95 is a 5.4 and would suit your needs just fine.
