I know this is a MA1000 thread, but just had two excellent sessions on the MA1600 and the MA2000. Thought it will fit well in the conversation on turn-ability.
Yesterday afternoon, 25kn cross-shore, 2-3m Swell (powerful). Rode the MA1600 with the Wingsurfer mkiv 4.5m. What a combo. The turning of the MA1600 is ridiculous. And you can cut soo hard and tight to the point where you nearly stop and you stay up on foil, then it just accelerates on one pump = incredible.
This morning rode the MA2000 Paddling up on unbroken swells around the 2-2.5m range. Even with the suggested 310HA rear wing, the MA2000 turns on a dime, punchy lift that allows you to paddle up on the smaller slower bump in front, then pump around to the set behind and bomb it. A really controlled delivery of lift and again unmatched turning for such a big foil. My peak speed this morning was just short of 29kmh but more impressively my bottom foiling speed (mid ride, not at the end of start) was 11.3kmh, all staying on foil and controlled.
I think if you are into freestyle, proper surfing turns, instant power and fast recovery, the MA is definitely something that should have your attention. They are definitely something very different, so I suggest going into things with an open mind as there is nothing like them on the market. Think turning soo hard you'd normally purl and prepare for stun as the foil holds its shyte together and you pull off the tightest turns you've ever done!
Extreme bottom end, tight turning, punch, forgiveness and manageable wingspan for the power (freestyle, breach break surfing, tight aggressive surfing, jumping, hard turns) - MA
High speeds, effeciency, pump and glide (Racing, Downwinding, Pumping, Long cruising waves) - HA.
