Love my 6.5 "23 Unit as a light wind wing. Upgrading to "24 wing. 7m Ventus or 6.5 Unit?
Would the Ventus be noticeably better?

I am 95kg, on the glide 1305 and sky style 5'1" struggled in the light wind on my 6m SLS slick 8-12 knots bought the 8m Ventis and it is all i ride now in 8-15 knots just sheet and go no pumping required. I ride with a harness to go up wind though and can ride for hours without getting tired. It can handle 18-20 knot gusts and 8 - 6 knot lulls without coming off foil.

A 6.5 Unit is 3.1kg and a 7m Ventis is 3.3kg.

Usually you expect about 100g from a half meter change in size.

For me this is going up in weight quite a lot for only half a meter in wing - so I would stick with the 6.5m Unit based on that as when light wind winging you can end up carrying the wing weight waiting for gusts and you are going to feel that extra 200g when sloshing off foil and also when pumping onto foil.

If you were comparing 6.5m Unit versus 8m Ventis then it might make more sense as you are at least getting a decent amount of extra canopy for the weight and a reasonable amount of extra wind range as a result.

I've got the new 6.5m slick great wing.

But the 8m ventis in light winds is a game changer .No more checking Seabreeze waiting for the wind to pick.

The only discernible difference between the 6.5 and 8 m it a longer boom to accommodate the lager canopy area.

No pumping required, I'm old fat and lazy, love not having to pump.

Once flying the wing creates apparent wind, just Cruz along.

Strongest wind I've been n is just over 12 knots.I change to the to the 6.5

Goes upwind like a champion, gybes we're at the start a challenge, handles are brilliant

A mate brought the North 8m,no real difference between them.Same cost approx

I'm 95 kgs

Ventis dlab 7.0 is insane, much better pull than the SLS 7.0. If you want power, go Ventis.

SLS is not great at low end. For free ride it is one of the best wings though. But if you are looking for low wind wings it is definitely Unit Dlab, Ventis, North Pro (not ordered by performance) or much cheaper older CWC or even Ensis. SLS would lose to all of them in low wind. It's just a different wing.

7m Ventis or 6.5 Unit? - Ventis would be 0.5 sqm better. I would go with a Ventis.
