Today we went back to Studly Park Boathouse for another river paddle.
This time we went East..away from the city and the little waterfall that we found last time.

It was a cold and crappy overcast day..but still good enough to paddle.
John had told us about another boathouse further upstream and we set off to find it.
We had been paddling for about half an hour and I said "Look..up in the sky..it's a bird..it's a plane...no..it's a bat"..
I suddenly realized that we must be close to the bat cave...The trees were full of bats..Thousands of them.
We paddled past them hoping not to get hit by bat poo..I've heard it's hard to get off..

Not far past the bats we came across this sign so we knew we were heading the right way.
At one stage we had to paddle under the Eastern Freeway.
Getting close now...It looks like some kind of park..and the Fairfield Park Boathouse.
We pulled the boards up onto the deck...What a nice looking pair of boards..
We cracked open the bumbag..got out drinks out..and bread for the ducks..and chocolate for us..
This boathouse is huge..and we heard that it really goes off on the weekends.
Also more hire boats than Studly Park Boathouse.
I walked up and took a few pics for you guys..I was tempted to have a horsey ride..or is that a Zebra..
There was a great old car parked at the top.
We heard that they have a great BBQ breakfast every Sunday..and this looks like the barbie.
It looks like they are trying to keep everything how it was about 50 yrs ago.
Back down at the boards the ducks were everywhere.
and little black duck footprints on the white deckgrip.
We headed off..This is one of the many footbridges that cross the Yarra.
and another as we get close to Studly Park.
Back were we started from..and our little white friends were waiting for us.
That's about it..I hope you liked my pictures..and hope it encourages you guys to get out exploring you local waterways...I love it..
