soak them in warm water, then bite on the knot with your back teeth for a bit, then work the knot with your fingers. keep repeating and it should come out

The gentle chew seems to work miracles - I use the front teeth and roll the knot around a bit

I like using the canines and/or premolars. Incisors are ok too sometimes.

just leave it there...
tie a knot in your other line if you're into symmetry.

Gently tap with a hammer which moves the knot around and loosens it.
Use fingers and nails to undo.

I wouldn't leave it there, as other have said a gentle chew works a treat, I have got a couple out even when pulled up real tight, but i find it helps to keep your mouth well lubricated with beer whilst doing it and of course after to celebrate.

Definitely a winning recipe...

Beer, TV, and start chewing/working that bugger with your incisors.
You'll find that the combination of the saliva and the grinding action from your teeth will work it loose. I had a real nasty bugger so tight i couldn't even see which way the knot webt, and after 10 minutes of chewing it all of a sudden came loose. :)

I have heard the hammer thing works, but i don't like doing that on such thin lines as kite lines.
Definitely don't leave it in there. A knot is a weak point, and i don't know about you but i don't like leaving a weak point in my kite lines.

Yeah not really cool. A knot in any line or rope creates a weak spot.

40-50% reduction in line strength.
Loop it not good!

i agree, don`t leave it there. halves your line strenth.
chew or hammer also a sailing needle will help.
if you leave it thats wear it will break for sure and you won`t know when.

Ok, i stand corrected. Seems like i have some chewing to do tonight. I would have thought that chewing would weaken my lines more than a knot but i'll take your collective words for it.

they are all a number of good suggestions, but rolling the knot on a hard surfacewith either a smooth pice of wood to press down on is the go just keep the direction the same. then bend the knot open by bringing the line together, it may seem like little progress but it does actually open the knot without damaging the line.

it should take approx two cans of beer,if you dont swill it down.

Just replace it with a new one. Can you imagane how anoyed and potentionaly dangerous it would be if your line broke while you where out the back of your local break and had to swim in!

Forget that Sh*$ Ive been there before and never again!...(if I can prevent it of cause!)

Your Lines are the only thing conecting you to your power sorse.Your kite is the only thing that will bring home back to the beach safely.

How can you be sure after nawing on your line with you teeth that the line will hold in strong winds or light for that matter.

If your lines, bridles, pig tale's,chickloop rope's, and so on look dodgy just replace them.

Each and everyone to their own of cause...but for me I want to come home with my sheild under my arm.

Your call

Best of luck

Luke
