Has anybody hired gear in Noumera before? I am heading over there at the end of the month and was interested in any good or bad experiences. Also is Anse Vata the best beach or is there better ones.
Cheers,
Chris

Chris,

Check out the website of the only windsurf shop in N.CAL :
www.diabolofunboard.com/
Heaps of info/news/links including weather reports (in French though). You will find info on gear rental by clicking on "LOCATION" (means HIRE in French).
Anse Vata is the most popular and accessible spot (slalom-free ride)especially if you stay in one of the hotels right across the road.
Cheers

Chris,

I went there last October we took our own gear. The rental places are geared more towards learning. You can rent very good Neil Pryde rigs, combats and Expresions from a guy in his truck at the main launch site in Ansa Vata but I would take your own board. He had a couple of JP freestyle waves but most were old slalom boards. Windsurfing is still huge in New Cal, the whole town seems to go windsurfing after work. Make sure you can speak basic french and enjoy. Ansa Vata is the main place people sail but there is another spot infront of the cultural center which has a few onshore waves. Also check Poe Beach down the coast, well worth a road trip. Cheers JR
