Doggie / sn: Isn't it illegal to remove it yourself and you have to use a 'proper' asbestos removal contractor? (Or maybe that is just a thing for Govt buildings?)
I make a point of going through the Balcatta recycling depot regularly
(checking for windsurfing sails and masts for Chook and Paul)

The balcatta depot have scheduled days where ratepayers can drop thier wrapped up asbestos for safe disposal.
I learned of the silasec trick when helping a mate with his house repairs- we drowned his roof in and out, and also gave the ceiling space a soaking as well as there was heaps of built up dust sitting in there.Did similar on some commercial properties too.
As kids we used to play with assy chucking scraps in the school gardeners fire to make it go boom (learnt cool new words from the gardener)

Helped Dad with assy fencing, he would cut the tops level, I would clean up the mess.
Working on the mines at Wodgina and Sinclair there was assy all around us, fibrous at Wodgina and both fibrous and powdery types at Sinclair.
At Sinclair they told us not to worry- its the "safe" type of asbestos- but the safety bloke and the geo bolted when I chucked some at them. I came back from my RDO's and the area had been cordonned off and kept damp! but why if its so safe?
we had been wading through the stuff for a fortnight thinking it was just normal dusty dirt [}:)]
