^^^Pugwash thinks this sounds like hogwash. More and more desparate? The walls I see are spattered with writing. The horse has been dead for weeks, but is still being flogged.

There is an interesting question around ethics in the whole HSU saga. Who knew what, when. Did the Labs deliberately go slow on the saga to sure up their numbers. Looks that way.

BTW - THE REPORT has just been released. Enjoy!

The report found Mr Thomson spent almost $6,000 using union credit cards on escort services.

It will be crazy funny to see Quentin sack a government that includes her son-in-law

The whole "Thomson affair" is such a beat up. Why is the whole thing so exciting for everybody? because of the margin in the Reps.

The Thomson affair is not a beat up. He has not been kicked out of the ALP caucus for nothing. At the very least a federal bureacracy has been used to delay and block police investigations into corruption. Now that delay has concluded.

Thomson looks like he is going down. If he does Labor will lose the seat of Dobell. If that happens its goodbye to the ALP parliamentary majority.

The really interesting thing is the criminal charges.

It is possible that the rules (lack of rules) pertaining to the union means he hasn't broken any criminal law. My guess this is why he keeps denying. But, Gillard has seen the writing on the wall, she knows the public wont stand for it, and what would have been a tilt at the title by Shorten (the stupid news clip at the start of this thread) if she hadn't acted and sidelined him. Interestingly enough, she is still happy to rely on his vote!

If the union was subject to corporations law, he'd be long gone and possilbly in the slammer...

According to the report Thomson used over $200K of HSU union funds on his election campaign. If that ain't illegal then I don't know what is.

Shorten is on TV right now basically saying Thomson is a bad apple, ie corrupt and rotten. So the ALP majority relies on the vote of a corrupt and rotten MP.

Way to go to increase our trust and support of the the parliamentary system.

^^^That one is an interesting point. Perhaps he thought he was best representing the union by representing them in Federal parliment. Perhaps he is a lying, cheating, slimy cockface. Who knows

"not a beat up".......you guys heard of Mary Jo Fisher?.....Liberal member from SA. CHARGED WITH SHOPLIFTING, CHARGED WITH RESISTING ARREST, CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING POLICE........CONVICTED. Is the liberal party going to "accept" her vote??? have the coalition banged on about her? no, The coalition are desperate to get that 1 vote, They'll do anything to get someone. The conservatives didn't accept the verdict of the electorate on election night a they still don't. Let the Thomson thing take it's course, don't smear the judicial process just because you don't like it.

The honourable Senator Mary Jo Fisher sounds like another politician bringing higher standards to parliament. Anyway to compare stealing some food and fighting a security guard to what looks like to be stealing hundreds of thousands of dolllars from a trade union is drawing a long bow. This senator got off with a conviction without a penalty. Perhaps you should complain about the South Australian criminal justice system. Lots of convicts were transported to Australia for less, though we must note, never to South Australia.

Face it Logman, this ALP parliamentary majority is going down. Probably the only thing holding it up right now is the hatred between the independents and Abbott. It won't be long before the honorable MP for Dobell has to either get out of the country or face criminal charges.

It's just a bit rich that every conservative in the country wants to bury Thomson.....but couldn't care less about Fisher. So my point is Thomson has been stood down....I think this is a good and reasonable action. It looks like the HSU and Fair work will bring the whole thing to the cops.....fair and reasonable. And then Thomson get's his day in court, and lets not forget he's claiming innocence.....so lets wait for the Magistrates decision.......Fair and reasonable????? What's not fair and reasonable is Brandis saying Thomson is guilty of fraud and theft. That may be the case but Brandis and Abbott are NOT the people to decide this. I can't believe I actually have to say this stuff, it's basic, the rule of law.....it's meant to be a given in our democratic system

The sense of entitlement within the opposition is astounding and the sanctimonious rectitude that assumes the coalition members are squeaky-clean pillars of society defies any test of equity and honesty. From the leader down, past and present members of the opposition have form for the so called "crimes" that they allege others have committed.

The current government continues to deliver and it will be the general population of Australia that will be a lot poorer if it doesn't.

Ever heard of the justice system? that decides Thomsons inocence and guilt and punishment. It's got nothing to do with how much money is involved, with who, or whatever. The PM has stood him down....good! and I'll assume he'll face court.....good. If he's found guilty then I hope he pays ...big time. but in the mean time people should back off and let the justice system do it's job. The other alternative is a lynch mob

^^^spin, spin, spin!

Stood him down Gillard took the coward's path, suspended him from the slobbery dog party (The Labs), but didn't take the action she should have. The action she should have taken a year ago. In the end, she saw shagger Shorten (hope that one goes public) was about to have a tilt at the leadership.

My guess - Gillard is up to her filthy neck in a orchestrated go slow that lead to delays and more delays on areport which took four years to deliver!

What no space for "the lying bitch" today? And now it's "shagger" Shorten for PM, ha ha! You shouldn't just give away your best material. Hang on wasn't it just a few months ago that Rudd was going to lead Labour again, and then it was this thread that you said The Governor general might sack the government.... You just keep getting things wrong. Pugwash your like a barking dog.....you don't know why your barking .....but you'll just keep on barking anyway

Just so I have this right, we are borrowing another 40b from os, paying 7b in interest on that for the year, to create a 1.5b surplus?
