Hey blueprint if your workplace didn't out source to 457`s and labour hire you'd be out of a job? I think you should move into injuiry rehabilitation. What workplace injury did you have? I hope you filled out your JHA! Bet the coin in the HSE department a bit of a dive. Its great to see they pay you accordingly.

Put up a couple of stretching exercise posters up(cause everyone does that just after filling out the JHA )up mabe a "what colour is your urine" safe lifting manual handling...Hold-on a graph of lti`s and how much money you saved dragging someone back to work on life support! haha

When I first started working there were no safety forms to fill out prior to doing a task. I remember as an apprentice going to a safety talk and was told a back injury could occur from something as simple as picking up a dropped pencil if you didn't bend down correctly. I wonder how many office workers are required to do a JSA prior to picking up a pencil.

As far a claiming a JSA is a great planning tool for jobs. That a load bull$hit. The sales pitch and nothing else. But breaking down a job into steps to identify potential hazards if a fair claim.

I don't do repetitive tasks and work by myself mostly. To do this I need a good understanding of my job and how to perform it safely. I use safety harness, protective clothing, safety glass, hearing protection and correct lifting techniques. I carry bollards to keep the public from entering my work area, This list goes on. As I said when I first started this thread. I find that writing out a JSA makes absolutely no fu#king difference to how I would have performed the task if I hadn't' written a JSA out at all.

What makes me a safe worker is the training I received during my career. Not the threat of some one not employing me if I didn't fill out a piece of paper. Can I do my job safer? The answer is yes and I am willing to do and learn more towards making my job safer. But this will not come form a JSA, it will come from having an open mind and the willingness to learn and make changes for the better. Its just a pity that some so called safety officers (or what ever you call yourselves) aren't willing to push for skills training rather than spruiking the benefits of some generic bull$hit form that is suppose to make the guy on the tools safer.
