I can and usually do turn into an obnoxious dick when Pissed, so for job security at work functions I'll often go for mids or sit on the full strengths.

So, sorry, when did you say you were going to start doing that?

Dan Murphey's has a great range of beers. I'd guess about 300.

Just be careful in Canada. I was drinking light beers as I had to drive not realising light means light on calories...it's still 4.2% alcohol. Got stopped by the police on the way home to but all ok

As a recent immigrant I can affirm that the majority commercial mid strength australian lagers taste like piss.
Also the majority of commercial full strength australian lagers taste like piss.
Don't be offended because half of them aren't even australian owned anymore. I'm convinced they are made by adding carbonated alcohol water (3.5% or 4.6%) to concentrated beer flavour. Thats not how you make real beer.
Coopers is a cut above though, the red is top class and 5.7% and the green is tasty too. The stout is even strong and nice in winter. As was said before its Family owned and you're not posting your dollars to Kirin Japan.

Mid strength beer is an abomination. Pregnant women should drink stout. Drivers should not drink.
Mid strength beer is only good for identifying phonies and untrustworthy types.

And as DM is owned by Woolies - I can now grab a few Vale's from the local supermarket instead of travelling an hour to the nearest DMs!

Dunno about you WA folk but, ALDI in VIC sell this fantastic Natural Blonde beer, Taste is awsome and its only $29.80 a slab!
4.6% is that a mid?

I need to blend that stuff with a better beer to make it drinkable!

That is almost tighter than anything I have ever heard !!!

Beer Blending - I blend brews quite a bit. If you get bored of the flavour of a particular beer, I blend it with something.

If it is a strong flavour, and blend it with a low flavour beer, and vice versa...

Such as Peroni Leggera... I was caught off guard when that beer first came out. Didn't realise it was a midstrength with low flavour. To help finish them off, I blended them with some stronger Ales from 3 Ravens (3ravens.com.au).

What the?? Beer should not be blended with anything. It contaminates it. That's why women drink shandy's.(yuk)

I now cook my own beer at my local micro brewery.

The beer tastes amazingly good, full strength and no additives, preservatives etc so the hangovers the next day aren't so bad.

...and its great value too $170 for around 7 cartons.

prepare to be shocked

The legendary iconic beer that is Emu bitter - is a light beer - with a 4.0% alcohol.

They snuck that one in nicely (perhaps to service mines that only allow mid strength)

I used to be a proud Emu bitter or export drinker -especially in the face of all those $50 cartons of 24 bottles of 330 ml (another rip - give me 375ml or piss off) - i really like the taste
- but after these sneaky snips at my beer enjoyment i am Coopers all the way

The world truly has gone crazy.

Emu Bitter - YUK! As you age your taste for fine beers improves. Drinking the Emu range is for those starting out in the alcohol world like 15 - 16 year olds. Those in their 40's+ should be drinking premium beers as thier taste buds evolve.

my taste buds actually like Emu - especially export. I reckon its really quite a fine beer.

EB and Coopers Pale ale actually tied for a best beer in Australia review - but that was around 10 years ago - so it goes to show that everyone has an opinion.

I also really like anything that coopers do - and i like Tiger beer too - especially when in Asia

I wonder how much beer preferences are marketing image vs how much is the actual taste.
For example :Corona - completely pointless no taste overpriced beer - but i dont mind drinking it. One thing i like about Corona is that they actually increased their bottle size from 330 to something like 350 mls

Apart from some really cheap American beer i am yet to drink a beer i didnt really like.

If you poured any of the 'dry' beers, low carb beers and the better quality low alcohol beers into a glass most people would drink it and enjoy it and get pissed and would believe they were drinking whatever you told them it was. (not including coopers/little creatures and fruitier style beers)

Leave the snobbery for the wino's.

If you're only having one or two then go for a more exotic taste, if you're gonna have a skinful you'll be too pissed to notice what you're drinking anyway, won't remember them and might as well save yourself 20 to 30 bucks on the carton.

A few years back I was going on an extended remote camping trip and wanted tinnies for ease of transport and disposal (campfire). Being in the booze industry I lined up all the commercial beers available and went through the lot in a blind tasting.

Actually got my staff involved in it too just as a point of interest, much to our surprise Export came out miles ahead of anything else.

Coopers Mild - orange label. Has a semblance of flavour unlike Gold or Mid.

Gold is only acceptable on the Saturday of the Gabba Test match (Nov 10 this ywear against the Saffas) when by law you must drink 20 in a day.. (one of 2 days we are allowed out now)
