firstly, music is one of the largest industries to date, Most musicians I know would play and write music reguardless of whether it sells or not, or whether you like it or not
So the recording and sales of albums/tapes/discs etc may be consumer driven,
(whats wrong with that anyway) but the creation and playing of music isn't.
( yes, there are a
minority who are in it for just the money, )
I would be willing to bet at least 70% plus of the population don't think music is unimportant, pointless or superficial,
The tv station that owned countdown payed mollys wages for the greater part of his career, Advertising during the popular show usually paid the overheads (and then some)
Any money you spent buying music went to the artists, their manager, and the recording studio, .....not mollys pocket,
he may have got a kickback for the introduction, (yea...so what)
So unless you unselfishly donated money to the station responsible for countdown,
on behalf of molly
You didnt pay anyones wage bar a few muso's
If it was so superficial and pointless , Why did you watch the show, and buy the music, and supposedly pay his wages???????
Missing something here???

(what have you done for [b]him[b])
.....
We made him the legend he is.
He chose to work in the most superficial, pointless, least important and consumer driven industry there is.
We bought the records he produced, we watched the TV shows he presented, we allowed him to be legend at being a legend. We paid his wages.
We therefore have the right to lift him up or knock him down, based only on our current whim.
If you chose to work in the entertainement industry then you chose to have the audience applaud or boo. Don't complain when they boo
