I'm a Hawks supporter but if the weather is crap the Dockers might have an advantage due to their style of play.

Hawks by a goal or two, if they don't choke like last year. If they do choke they should be branded as the next Collingwood, the former experts at losing grand finals.

Hoping for Freo, I just feel if they put the same pressure on the hawks as they have done all finals then theyll get over the line. Cant wait to see how Crowley and Ballentyne play with a flag up for grabs. If he can keep mitchell at bay early then I think they'll have a chance.

Go Freo!

I was a bit sad yesterday when the Dockers lost.
The fact that it was the Dockers first Grand Final. I reckon they would of been nervous. But not only that
the experience of the Hawks I think that is what got them over the line in the end.
But watch out for the Dockers next year because with that Grand Final experience they have now. They will be red hot
next year and very keen

Ol Ballers put in a shocker. Reckon he got the yips big. Even when he had a clear pass to his little mate all on his own at the top of the square, nobody on him, and refused to pass it over for a certain goal. If looks could have killed, Ballers would be dead as a door nail.
Second half was more like Dockers, so the lost by 15 and only played a good half of football As an Eagles supporter, they look intense for next season and we haven't appointed a coach yet.

Yes, I agree with that, plus,..
The problem was all psychological.
There is no doubt that both sides had the ability to win. They wouldn't have been there if they didn't.
After all, they had beaten every other team in the AFL to get to the grand final.
If the Dockers had managed to play the grand final with the same brilliance they displayed in the semi then they would have won. But in fact they played more like Sydney did the previous week and got the same result. They lost.

It was apparent at the end of the semi-final the previous week that the celebrations of both the players and supporters, in fact all of Fremantle, were as if they had just won the grand final.
That continued for most of the week.
You might think that this is a good thing, but it is not.
Subconsciously it helps to create the mindset that the main goal has been achieved and has the effect of diminishing the fierce determination to 'get the job done' a week later.
And that certainly looked to be the case when watching the first three quarters of the match.
Most of the brilliance which was demonstrated in the semi final was simply not there.
They were good, but not consistently brilliant.
That's the difference a subconscious belief that the goal had already been achieved can make.

Hawthorne did not have that problem simply because they were in the same situation last year and the result was the same.
They lost.
That is such a bitter pill to swallow, the taste is still there a year later so they had much less inclination to fall into that trap.
They well knew the job was not done until after the grand final.

If the Dockers manage to get to the grand final next year, provided they remember what it was like to lose this year they will probably achieve what they set out to do.
And that is, to win the grand final.
The semi final is not the end point. The grand final is.

I was hoping the Dockers would get up. (I'm a Magpies supporter)
But I don't think the problem was that they played the Grand final the previous week....

....I think they were up for the fight alright.
They were fine with the gross motor things like tackling, running hard etc, but when it came to executing precision skills like kicking for goal from set shots, or even on the run but in the clear, and also some of their decision making, they were a bit overcome by the occasion and made errors due to tension.
They will be better for having played a GF though.

The desperation they showed against the Swanies was still there.
The difference was that Hawthorn were equally desperate and in good physical shape to battle it out, whereas the Swans were cooked.

What about Ross Lyon?
4 GF's for 0 wins.

Reminds me of when I was a kid. I went and saw the Pies in Grand Finals '77(x2), '79, '80, 81.
- 5 GF's for 0 wins.

I wonder if most St Kilda supporters would be hoping Lyon wins one in the next few years, or not?

Still, i believe the next few years grand final appearances will be the norm now the desire to win is truely there
