Hi Guys,
My name is Barney and I am a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student at UWA.
We have been given a project to design a wind surfer for use on the land (land windsurfing?) that can be used by someone who is paraplegic or quadriplegic.
I have done some kitesurfing and wakeboarding myself but never windsurfing or Land Windsurfing.
If you guys could just leave comments about anything to do with either it will aid greatly in my research. In particular I want to know what you enjoy about windsurfing and what parts of windsurfing are important for the overall feel (i.e. the speed, standing up or would it be ok sitting down etc.). I want to try to replicate this as much as I can for the disabled board.
Ultimately the best design from this will have $5000 to be made functional and will then be used for paraplegics to go windsurfing on the land.
Cheers
Barney

Thanks Gizmo
That's actually the company that I am designing this for although they have given us minimal information to work on.
