Having kids is probably the biggest challenge of my life so far. Forget high school, drivers licence, single phase motors, PLC's or maximum demand. How about the carve gybe or forward loops? These challenges in my life have been a walk in the park compared to the birth and raising my two kids who are now 7 and 4. When I think about it they have had so very little life experience. For instance my 4 year old has only been alive for 4 whole years! He has only just started kindy this year. They know absolutely nothing. Ive enjoyed seeing both my kids experience first things. Like their first step, their first tooth etc etc etc. A lot of firsts are still happening. Its up to us as parents to guide them and teach them correct principles and allow them to govern themselves. Its tough, real tough but rewarding. Kids also feel things to the extreme. Like when you walk in front of them they yell out WAIT, COME BACK! But your only 5 metres away. Or if they hurt their finger they need a kiss and a band aid to make it all better. We just need to cut them some slack. Help them with their problems because we have so much more experience in life than they have.
People who have had kids and have grown up and moved out usually forget what it was like and are quick to judge. Or people who dont have kids think how easy it would be and are quick to give advise based on nothing.
As for me I consider myself a pretty easy going dad. Relaxed and chilled. I want to be approachable. I want to be the worlds best dad.
Thats my 2c
