got a great system, denon avr 3805,5xomnisat mirage speakers ,velodyne sub an 50 inch panasonic plasma.crank it up pretty often but blew front l and r speakers, burnt out,can anyone tell me if the mirage speakers are nt up to the task or maybe just keep it down a tad!got the system from prouse, they were excellent, looked after me with repairs on them, good info too

The main issue that 'blows up' speakers is DC. If you run an amp hard so that it is clipping (you will hear the distortion) you are more likely to blow a speaker than running a clean signal with the same power level. Also dont always beleive what you read in the specs of a speaker. I would hate to put a decent 100w rms amp on most of the speakers out there today that they claim to be rated at 100w. I spend many hours each week trying to explain to people why their amp or speakers have blown up (for purely selfish reasons- I dont want to have to fix the amp again)
