find a wave ,ride it ,enjoy !!
who cares who's looking at you or what other s think is "who is the best". (usually ends up in a fight over strapped vs unstrapped ,judging criteria and **** like that with no respect for the poor old smose that organise it and volunteer their time )

Tho I must admit "events, get togethers etc "can be good fun and a great opportunity to catch up ,swap notes, learn and improve and seem to be pretty popular (mamabo, kitestock ,hookstock ) a loose judging format can add a bit of spice .100 kiters , families friends etc turning up to a spot in a 'downtime 'would be a good reason for a local community to get behind it (caravan park local businesses ,council )

Perhaps a kite"surf"stock could be an idea (in WA or somewhere where there is reliable wind and waves) This place could be a contender and a great excuse to visit a pretty magical part of OZ

Just a thought:

I know many people get nervous about running events due to the insurance/council liability issues. But I've seen several events run as the "Not The Kitesurfing Nationals 2006", where people pay a small fee (I went to one that was $5) to cover rashies etc, and then simply show up. Maybe it's something worth thinking about.....

Personally I think there should be two separate wave comps; East Coast and West Coast. It's too expensive to expect people to fly to one or the other and there's enough in both areas to make it a really good competition.

Why are you surprised? Comps are good, shows the level everyone is riding in the waves.

Being sarcastic.

And, it's not what level you're riding at that's important-it's how much stoke you have.

And FIGJAM.
