after reading mattyjee's story and another concerning a snapped 5th line I'd like to know if anyone has an opinion regarding thr 5th line.
I have Airush vapor's and the 5th line they ship with is not a flying line and doesn't look like it's has same breaking strain.
Should I replace with with a flying line so I'm more confident it won't snap or let go when I need it

the 5th line shouldn't ever have much tension on it, nowhere near as much as your other flying lines.

If the fifth line breakinging strain is greater than your body wieght then its fine. The line this kite ships with is good

I've had a fifth line snap and I think it saved the kite. I dropped it in the surf (dumb) and couldn't get it relaunched in time (dumber) and I wasn't quick to release the lines (dumbest) and the whole kit got munched. The fifth line (which up until then had performed great) snapped before the kite tore itself. Engineerd like that? don't think so, but it saved me a new kite.

On the topic of lines, I fly a rebel (07) and the lines are starting to look pretty frayed where they cross over when doing a back roll or an attempted front roll, I don't want to wait for the lines to snap, but how much life is left in the strings when they start to look all frayed and stuff? If anyone has any ideas on it!

^^Thats why oh-sh!t handles are a good idea^^

If something stuffs up, then you will have a redundant safety system to back you up.

It's not really a big deal if they snap, just as long as you arent far out to sea, or really high in the air. Most often two lines will snap at once, the kite will depower and you will swim in. It won't kiteloop or haul your arse around.
