Why do you think AKSA insurance premiums went up?

Because Insurance companies are greedy?

Because of the amount of claims from people being hurt!

mum, dad, 2.5 kids sitting on the beach in 20 knots plus is pretty unusual
really lessens the chances of injury to general public, this is also what alot of councils dont seem to grasp

was told of someones, friends, aunties, dogs, cousin twice removed who had two fingers de-gloved(i hate that word), had them sewn to his stomach for a while to grow the skin back, i know i am pussy but that makes me feel sick

true or not makes me very aware of grabbing lines

Both true - there has been an increase in the number of claims.

AKSA is about to announce wide ranging changes to the insurance arrangements
we negotiate on behalf of all the state KSA's and members.
It has been a long known fact that the ridiculously low premium rates for
the level of insurance AKSA offer would last only as long as it took for some
significant claims to be injected into the formula.

That day has arrived.

There have been a number of lesser claims successfully managed by the insurers and there are at present three more in the system which may see payouts to injured parties of between $100,000 and $200,000 (or more) per claim. We will release details of these claims on the AKSA & State KSA websites once it becomes appropriate to do so. In the meantime we are sure that the insured kiters
are pretty happy about their decision to protect their livelihood by paying out their $65 annual subscription.

Despite a TENFOLD increase in the premium for the coming season we have managed to maintain a $65 subscription for the first 3 months of this membership year. All new and re-enrolling members are offered a full 12 month membership and insurance for the same old rate of $65. (now well below cost)
BE WARNED - THIS OFFER WILL CLOSE ON THE 31ST DEC 2010

If you have not logged into the new national data base; now operating off every state KSA site; to join for this season OR if you have never joined but would like up to $20M cover for just $65 this will be your last chance.

A 12mth membership - that's right the new national database offers 12 mth
membership from the date you join - will definitely increase by more than 100%;
possibly even 200% or more; as of the 1st Jan 2011.
Whilst this will represent a huge jump in percentage terms it still represents
very cheap insurance in comparison to any thing else we know of on the market.

Consider that we now have event insurance up to $20M; 24/7 personal public
liability "including kiter-to-kiter" of $10M we would hope everyone will
recognise that the increase still makes for great value peace of mind.

More will be published once our final deliberations are made to set the 2011
rate which will apply from 1st Jan thru to the 30th June 2011.
After that date we hope to have another review in the light of a whole bank of new options we are currently investigating for the subsequent year.

You should try Botany Bay some time, that place is very "unusual" and the beaches are often busy past 20 knots

Not to mention the swimmers and people fishing who don't care about the wind but only seem to want to use the flat water sections behind the rock walls

Maybe if we just called them "slicers" instead of "lines" people would get the idea...

Dude, read it again.

100% increase is $130

200% is $195

The premium went up 1000% but it is only a small percentage of the original $65
