It seems that these days the forums and reviews are flooded with analysis of the kites depower! IT seems that everyone, especially bow riders, main concern is the depower on the kite. I just can't grasp this concept. I have an 07 Fuel and if you let the bar go the kite depowers enough that it will slowly loft down and touch the groud. HOW MCUH MORE DEPOWER DO YOU WANT? It seems that people these days can't handle a little bit of a tugg when they drop the bar riding suicide. It shoudl be power and windrange which people care about!

simply the more depower you can have the greater wind range, more windrange means less kites needed.

hahaha but then the bow riders say, ohhh It's to windy, my kite flys **** when it's depowered so mcuh, it falls out of the sky. Not mentioning any names. Pretty sure the good old 5 line depower does the job better.

Depower, shepower. who gives a flying fig. the only thing that is important is if you are still amped and want to keep kiting. wake up and fly your own boat.

come on guys this is another topic which can only be answered by one statement:
"he/she who has most fun wins"
Looks like theres a conflict of character, peoples character that suit more to a C-kite and peoples character who suit that of a bow kite. I admit im a C kiter and basically i love danger, risk, not scared of death as long as its a story worth talking about. Bow kiters seem to have something really important to them that gives them concern about inj ury etc. like a wife or something. So the moral of the story is just have fun and see you out there!

p.s i have no idea what im talking about and i recommend that you dont ask me to be your phsycologist, i probably need one haha. And all think positive thoughts (echo) about this great forecast and you guys forgot to mention foil kites. there sh1t, haha just joking

Seriously, what is the story with some of these forums. I have read some interesting posts on occasions that have given some valuable info, but for the love of humanity what is the deal with some of you guys. I windsurfed for 9 years before picking up kiting just over 12 months ago and no one ever gave a **** whether someone was on a wave sail or freestyle/freeride, or rode a Naish or a Starboard. You just windsurfed end of story. One of the things that attracted me to kiting is the diversity of progressions that it has to offer and yet some of you guys bitch over completely superfulous things like a bunch of school kids. Get over yourselves, go kite and enjoy, whatever your ride or how you ride.

Here endeth the lesson.

What annoys me about bow's and I fly one is that yes they have a biger range but they pull like tanks unhooked and have the same depower range unhooked as A c kite... Very well creating a kite that depowers really well hooked in but they need to create the same wind range for unhooked because bows are more gruntier at the top end and definately could use it. Thats my main criticism...

If you get to the stage of unhooking with bows/hybrids spacemonkey is on the money, especially when beginning. I was quite intimidated on my old bow when unhooking, sold it and bought a 5th line hybrid.
With regard to the X-Bow and X-bow2, they flew OK unhooked when you fully depowered the kite. Using the last knot(the knot furtherest away from the kite) on the bridle set up will also prevent the kite from oversheeting.
Kiting is going in many directions, cool,I dont understand justins point.
I thought when you let go of the bar on an 07' fuel when riding suicide the 5th line gave it 100% depower???????

riding suicide means the leash is attached to the chicken loop, not the 5th line, so if you drop the bar the 5th line doesnt come into play

Suicide isn't really that bad, you can save crashing the kite most times and it doesnt really cain you at all. By the time you let go to suicide you have reached your maximum speed so it doesnt matter if it is 5th or suicide your still going to hit the water the same. Big advantage of 5th is if you kite somewhere that you have limited room and dont want to be dragged into anything. Oh yeah and also if the leash wraps around your neck (trust me it happens) its got no power. Still I ride suicide and its no big deal.

Pessimism worked this time mate, i had an epic session with the new T2 today. Seriously you can just hover and start to fly, ive never flown a kite with so much lift. You do your optimisimum and ill do the pessimism and maybe we will come up with a winning combo. Im going out at 8:30am tomorrow if ur keen (the wind WILL be shyte).
