I was out at the same break about 2-3 weeks ago and a poley, in the channel and going out and downwind of us, kept on swearing at the kiters who were tacking towards the peak for a take-off, to go on the outside of him, which would have taken us to the middle of the channel with no chance of getting back to the wave. R sole!

So you mean you don't want to go out past the wave on your way out with the poley's but tack straight into the peak? I love surfing like that but if others( particularly polies) are out it doesn't work. Kites are new to the surf and rules have already been made.
But maybe I miss understood the post.

I was following the rules, taking my turn, which required going way beyond the break before jybing.
Having manners and staying downwind of the poleys, who were battling as there wasn't much wind, is the reason i had to tack towards the peak after the jybe.

30 poleys and 10 kiters sailing a confined wavebreak is borderline stuff. ^^^
Even if everyone knows the drill, it still can be a total clusterf.u.c.k.
But that's the nature of crowd-sailing, and guess what Hilly ?..............
You're part of the problem too.
lol.
When it comes to tuning gumbies about wavekiting protocol, it requires a delicate approach.
The only gumbies that you can really get thru to are the ones that you know personally.......
and don't be too surprised if they take offense when you give them the not-too-subtle hint.
Folks don't like being called a kook.

Got to admit you are absolutly right on this, Sunday 3.30 at said break 20 poleys and 5 kites..... a waste of time.
At some point, if the swell size doesnt sort out the punters, it turns into a round about.
There were no complaints from poleys and all were mellow.
The fact is just, every location becomes saturated at some point, and then its no use trying to make every one the same, just go some where else.

"There were no complaints from poleys and all were mellow".
lol. ^^^
Who fken cares about whiney poleys ?
They aren't the keepers-of-the-gate.
Why suck-up to those paranoids ?
But I'm so pleased they were mellow......
I wouldn't be able to sleep nights if I knew they weren't chilled.

If there had been no kiters out.....
Poleys would just bitch about the other poleys after the session.
Whiners.

I changed my mind, you are a menace, You have learnt nothing, after many years of being a prety hot windsurfer, well a lot better than me anyway, you have lost the plot, and can only see in black and white.

And now could somebody tell me what happen if (on the said break) you ride way inside on the first section (where it is the most gnarly just next to the reef) where pretty much nobody is riding, then you surf the wave as you would surf it like a surfer making it to the second section where you meet the crowd. It sounds like I ve got the priority no? But I have to ride upwind to everybody else, and it could look like I m sneaking everybody else! But in fact I m first on the wave taking it at the back and first to drop. And when I come back, yes, I try to go upwind as possible leaving the rights to the one on the wave. Why kite surfing if it is to do it in the poley way, kite give us more opportunuity and more manoeuvrability it would be really sad to not use them!!!

All the local polers were fuming, I got an earbashing.

So far in this thread,
I've been called ignorant, self-absorbed, a tosser and a moron by Hilly....
and a mence by Ray, lol.......
but what really irks me the most about this thread is simply the retarded, self-loathing title.
> Embarrassed to be a kiter <
Shame Hilly Shame.
I would have titled the thread as follows;
"Attention all gumbies and kite-f.a.g.s...............Get your freaking strings out-of-my-face when I'm fanging down the line".
You're a wavekiter, Hilly, be proud of the fact.
Have some goddamn self-respect.
Your initial post comes across as some kiss-arse apology to the poleys......
for the actions of gumbie-kiters who you probably don't even know ??
You are your own man, dude.....
You aren't responsible for randoms flying kites and kooking-out in the break.

I never hear windsurfers saying that they're embarrassed to be a poley due to the kook-activity of certain gumbie-sailors.
They might moan and whine and bitch about all kinds of stuff.....
but they never admit unworthyness.
Never.

Peter, Peter, Peter you just don't get it do you. If kiters want to be respected members of the surfing community we are.

As a kid I remember being pulled into line at Triggs point. It is called self-regulation.

You can stick your head in the sand as much as you want and only think of yourself thats fine. Just stay in Mandurah. I believe we need to educate as many kiters as possible to the correct behaviour in the surf.

It is never going to be perfect but it really needs to be better than it is, as kiters stand out as a group that do not share well with others.

The title of the thread was a reflection on how these kiters made me feel that day. I don't walk around filled with self loathing because I kite.

The fact was members of the surfing community would view my sport in a poor light due to ignorant, self absorbed others. It would be wrong not to say anything and I did on the day and on the forum.

The title has nothing to do with how I view myself as a kiter.

Your poley phobia and aggressive posts have not added anything to this thread. Just adds to the divide. I get on really well with the poleys up there. No they don't hate me as you keep saying.

My abuse of you was directly in response to your obscene post that was moderated. Please don't play the injured party here.

Peter you always go for a reaction. In this case it is detrimental to the discussion but certainly entertains the masses, I am sure Laurie loves it.

Do you think the ATO will mind that I haven't done my tax return yet this year? Is there a penalty for late submission?

Come on Stabber start a better thread, rather than trying to close down other peoples threads. Smacks of sour grapes.

Be proactive rather than negative.
