ppl like him will buy from ebay...."cause I'd save 50% on my gear" and realize a year later that he can kite as well as his mate who has had lessons and bought from a "millionaire" shop-owner like you.

ppl like him will stay for a week at a place like he mentioned and whinge for 6 days that "i got no wind"...

blah blah bleedin' blahh..

you don't need to justify yourself to these wakkers.

We're also planning on a second trip on the 3rd of September... Is anyone keen for those dates? Wind's still great that time of year up there!

Plus we'll have 2010 Cabrinha and maybe Slingshot for demo by then...

September ???
Hmmm. Should have recovered from the NZ trip (Bledisloe) that will stop me coming in July...
Sounds like an early start to the season...
Keep me posted.

Can it be a SurfAri if there's no waves? Or have you found THE spot in FNQ?

From Noosa north.....^
Polesurfing and Kiting succeeded where wakeboarding had failed.
The dual windsports transformed the sh1tful beaches of greater Queensland into pseudo surf-spots.
Local crew own surfboards where no surf exists.
A 'surf culture' was artificially induced from the slime of the swamp that's devoid of waves.
lol.

myusername> thanks for the frikking great tip:

"Just googled some FNQ charter boats. Can charter a a 72 foot luxury motor cruiser all inclusive for four days at $1600 per head all inclusive. (Probably worth $2600 if a kite shop organises it but.) That's the top end of the scale. Plus you can dive, fish, snorkel etc. Or you can stay in cairns and go to green island every day for $60 per day. (cheaper than a lift ticket)
I wasn't going to be so negative, but I am getting sick of the blatent pimping "

NOT!!!

1600AUD all incl. for 4 days vs 1200AUD 7 days acc. and 4 days of safari and food incl. and how is that any better?

Last year I did a week in yorkies knob. not a bad place given I have a strong dislike to Cairns itself. I stayed somewhere I consider cheap 150AUD per day for an app. just off the beach.
Add to that 3-4 meals per day for 2 and you ll easily pay another 150 per day.
Im talking being on a holiday and eating OUT most of the time.
Im not talking about being on a holiday going cheapskate, eating out of a can everyday and not enjoying it. OK? thanks.

So thats around 2100AUD for a week for two, not 1600 for 1.

now I have the option to not worry about renting a car (yeah I forgot about that), and go places I would never go for a mere 300AUD more. its a no brainer for me. I get to camp out, the missus will also enjoy this even if not kitesurfing and its all good, wind should be good etc etc.

Finally I just wanted to thank everybody for their opinions/view and also take the opportunity to mention that going away is a very personal thing when it comes to taste, money etc.

cheers,
Eric

PS: Im going to put my money where my mouth is, Im asking for a week off in Sept. and will book this 1195aud per week trip. if only I could find their website..
no joy on google so far!

Just got back, what a great experience, three days ago I was fully lit on a 7 wearing only boardies and a rashie. Rob and Ant are great hosts and have thought of just about everything, little touches such as hot showers, roast dinners, rescue boat etc make it easy to forget how isolated you are. I spent two weeks in Far North Qld, Cairns, Port Douglas, Cooktown etc but the four days up at Cape Flattery were definetly the highlight.

Not looking good for the September trip - our main man Rusty busted his kneecap and is off the water for 12 months...
Check it out!

Super bummed if we can't go...

Major bummer for Rusty, give him my regards please Rhys.
There are a couple of guys down here who have booked a trip in the 20th Sept, and I was thinking of joining in them, maybe we can combine our trip with whats left of yours?
No way Rusty will be back and riding in that time frame, but hopefully he can get some water time this summer.

Flipped board off and one rail got wedged in the sand, the other got lodged under his kneecap. Not cool...

Steve - I'll talk to the boys here and see what they reckon
