I laugh to myself too when I see guy's out and on the beach in summer with...

Weties, PFD's,rashies, helmets, electric pumps, wind meter's,reel leashes, hats, sunnies, mobile phone's, hook knifes, gloves, booties, heel straps, modified saftey set ups, sand bags for self launching and landing.

I dont know how the hell they get out of the garage let allone down to the beach! im flat out remebering to grab my pump let allone all the above,

Whatever rocks your boat I geuss...or sinks it!

I have taken the liberty of putting your post into google translator, it even recognised the language to be "uneducated" and converted it to "English". Neat huh

"Kiters and all THEIR accessories, an exercise in complication"
Today, after I SAW A bloke with a phone in a bag with ear phones coming from it, I had to laugh. The thought of him accepting a call during a back roll was something I found comical. Other things that make me feel this way are; air tanks to fill your kite from, sun glasses to which I see no point, reel leashes that are more a danger than aid and helmets. I can think of other accessories which brings me to the point of my poorly grammatical post; what has happened to the fundamentally basic principle of Kite+bar+board+harness=kitesurfing.

hey kitecrazzzy i need a pa

Wow perfect time to discuss this bazar act today on the water. Was doing a down winder on the goldy today in pretty hairy 30knot winds about 100 metres behind is a guy who was on a massive ozone kite (severly over powered) he couldn't even stand up as the kite was at 12 and just dragging him down wind. Anyway my brother who was kiting with me stopped next to him and asked if he will need help landing the thing but the guy claimed he was just writing a text to his mate WTF. Trying to kite in 30knot winds and typing a text at the same time. Think he just didn't want to admit he was in some kind of trouble. Thought u kite to get away from phones etc. :)

Nothing wrong with carrying a hook knife. Helped someone out a couple of weeks ago. Crashed and lines got tangled around a buoy, hook knife came in real handy.
And a good pair of sunnies I think are a must. protects the eyes and makes kiting so much more easier, especially when you crash as much as I do.

My kit:

Helmet, zinc, vest (with knife), long rashy, Blue Eye Squid sunnies.. note: no real leash anymore.

Sure I'd like to be less cluttered and quicker in/out of the H2O but each item except the knife has been super handy and essential on at least every second session.

Each to their own, if you want to get cancer, eye probs, busted ribs or scrambled grey matter; go for gold sunshine.. At least it may thin the crowds out a bit if the HTFU brigade are getting grafts from the area adjacent to their sphiny stuck on their face/arms etc

Aside from overpowered numbnuts texting mates, why are so many of the HTFU brigade worried about what others are wearing??? Worried you may be missing something?? How about HTFU and pay attention to what YOU are doing.

Er?

I wasn't exactly directing any comments at you mate, more the HTFU (usually with their boardies over their wetty - crikey here we go again!!) brigade who would rather look cool than be around still kiting in a decade or so. Boy they will look funny with their freckle transplanted on their forehead!!

No huff, no puff and no guff... all good

what a bunch of nancies.

Zinc i understand and use.. rashie yes boardies minus wetsuit as its FRIKIN SUMMER yes. PFD, perhaps a less bulky impact vest would suffice but even so not really needed. helmet, yeah if your using a leash it is handy.. but you shouldnt need a leash in the first place so it is also an added option, nothing wrong with using one though..

but then you get to your elec pumps epirbs cellphones etc.. all can be left in the car.... if you are too lazy to pump your kite you shouldn't be in the sport really as your not dedicated enough to want to participate. its just silly and people are just getting slack...

next thing you know there will be auto rigging kites with autopilot self land and launch etc...

pretty close; at some popular kite spots overseas you can see fat pink germans in speedos and seat harnesses employ locals to lay out their lines, pump their kite, launch their kite, land their kite, and pack up their kite....

Kiters are more suseptible to "PTYRIGIUM" damage (google it!)
Than any over sport.
How often do you look @ yer kite
with the sun next to it???????????????
PTYRIGIUM PEOPLE BEWARE!!!!
Only cure is surgery!!
Or wear sunnies or not???

Fair bump... play on.

Still - after checking my lines slowly (twice) I have never launched with my lines crossed.

1st I put on my rashie, helmet, sunnies, vest, harness, run my lines twice, check my chicken etc setup, say 3 hail Marys (facing due west to ward off nasty westerlies) and one last ogle at the curvy specimens on the beach then it's onward and upward!! What's so tedious about that?

Note that I have now ommitted the stage where I would scribble down a few lines for my memoirs - had to economise with time somewhere cause Pat was moaning too much [:D

A bottle of air LOL
Sunnies NO POINT
PFD ok if you are on a outter reef
Reel leash no no
Gath hat what you going to hit water
AND THE LIST GO ON

What ever happened to a kite a bar a board and harness

Try Sunglassess with car polish, doesnt matter how much spray you get it beads off, and you probably wont get cataracts.

PFD - handy when having to swim 1k to shore -

leash - doubles as a dog lead?

phone - maybe his on call for work and not on the dole like most kiters??

That's a bit uncalled for Scrotum.. Have you had a bad day or something

I don't know many kiters that don't work, it's not a cheap sport
