Honestly www.eckyfloatables.com they are cool. I had a sesh on the weekend hitting a rail. Had a buster, landed on my ass. And I just picked the sunnys out of the water cause they float really well.

Hey, I can highly recommend ocean sunglasses. I've been using and selling them for years now. They have a great range for all uses. I've got a stack of them advertised on gumtree for below retail prices. Biggest things to look for are sunnies that float, don't fog up and are comfortable when wearing with some tension on the strap.

Had a pair, but the floating part that clipped on didn't work well and I lost them too. Otherwise they were good, nice and big too.

I have been sailing, surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing for 35 years. My eyes cannot handle outdoors without sunnies. 30 years I have been wearing sunnies and in the last 4 years kitesurfing has presented challenges particularly when learning and I am 90% in the surf. I lost one pair when learning and after reading a seabreeze forum went to bunnings and purchased uv wraps, $27, shatterproof, full uv and impact protection, meets AS/NZ 513371. Still got them and have not had a problem. I clean them with rainx after every use and have not had a problem. I do not even know they are on. I have had some problems fogging when surfing but not when kiting. I use a rip curl strap which cost $7.

Rain X is safe for eyes?

You put it on the glasses and buff the excess off... not in your eyes

So Rain X takes care of all the gunk in seawater that sticks to your sunglasses? Or is it just for water?

I dont have a problem with water, its all the minerals and gunk in seawater that sticks on your lens.

Good thread although I have not yet found the best solution for me. Sometimes the sun reflects so brightly on the water that I feel like I must go blind so I need sunnies urgently.
Not only the fogging up would bother me but all the seaspray that hits my face occasionally and would likely stick to the sunnies. Does that not impact vision?

Has anyone used seaspecs with prescription lenses?
A bit of cash to spend, but I'm tired of not being able to see the mainland from Rottnest, specially at the start!

They look pretty cool actually and should do the job well. Also at that price point I won't be too upsed if I lose them.

I will take them out with me this week some time so will post back how I went.

Sunglasses only fog up in your car. They dont fog up outside, too much air moving around.

Wouldnt go on the water without them though, get the worst red eyes if I didnt, take it for granted the number of times you stare at the sun when you check your kite.

Those bunnings glasses dont look too bad. I'm curious about Rain X for keeping buildup off your sunglasses as well.

They do fog up if you fall in the water and the conditions are right... warm air, warm face, cold water. They usually clear pretty quick once you get moving, but bad glasses will fog if they don't flow air well enough and you're hot and the air is cool.

I got myself a pair of lip typhoon sunglasses.. bombproof strap system and zeiss lenses with special coating to disperse the water drops.

$50 carve polarised sunnies, a neoprene strap glued to 2mm top and taped to glasses. Come off safely when you wipe out and easy to recover from the back of your neck.
