Hey Tommy,
Try the river mouth in NE or N,great smooth flat water on far side, launch across the road from The Tree(Pub in 1770) can do main beach in anges in NE however better in SE. Chat with the local kiters, good bunch of guys and will show you some other nice spots up and down the coast, say G'day to Sharky for me.
Have Fun

I've also once saw a couple of guys out at Middle Creek. I was up there a year or so back and the only local kiter was a fella called Luke. If he's still there he'll be easy to chase down as it's a tiny place.
Good place to stay is Captain Cook Holiday Village. Have also seen a guy kiting on the beach behind here.

Nah, I think you're talking about the park in Agnes which is now shut down.
CCHV is just as you enter 1770 on the hill on the right. It has private beach access over to the surf beach. Also has cabins and a new pool. There is also a camp ground in 1770, pretty basic - camping and vans only, but right on the water's edge near where you can kite.
The flat area you're talking about is the 1770 inlet. I am a total newbie to kiting and was only surfing when I lived in 1770, but watched kiters a number of times. It looked good however, the wind funnels down a valley and swirls a bit at the 1770 inlet sometimes. Northerlies should be OK though.
The inlet and beach at Middle Creek are more open and a bit more exposed to different winds. You can also wild camp at Middle Creek, but watch out for the sand flies - they are vicious.
Let us know how you go. I head up to 1770 every now and again, it's a fantastic part of the world.
