Hey getfunky, nice gash!
Funny, only a few days ago my mate got hit in the face by his board with very similar results. The board hit him just above the eyebrow, blood everywhere, I gave him my T-shirt to wipe his face, first thing he asks...
"Do you reckon it'll leave a scar?"
Like you say though, only cm away from being an eye...another reason I like wearing my Blu-eyes.

I've been meaning to get a hook knife too...I've been rolled in my lines in the surf, but managed to roll the other way and get clear....I got stuck in fishingline when I was diving the other day too, and no knife with me either....

Good thread, it seems like we get the same kind of injuries, thankfully nothing worse than a few weeks off work hobbling around so far. Touch wood...

Whoa tobes.. sounds a skid inducer!! It's my 2nd real season (missed all 2005/2006 summer due to RSI) and I have been getting amongst piddly little waves and loving it...

On a couple of occassions I've had a crack at some more around shoulder + high and got rolled on one that left some serious stainage in my reggies!!

Scared the B jesus outta me with only 1 1/2 roll overs - thank crikey I was able to keep the bar out in front and away from my bod so therefore clear of tangling.

Yep when I got clobbered, I opened up like a watermelon and had claret everywhere... I had a Gath on too but just got hit real sweetly. I tried to keep going but 15mins later was feeling pretty unco and dizzy so wobbled in and crash/self landed.

Glad to hear your ok Caelah, a wee (little knife) in time saves much damage...

I get real pissed when (mainly experts) kite too close when there's no reason to... (I only kite ocean so there's really no excuses).. never want to be in a tangle with swell around... freaky momma

Yea, Hook Kife seems like easy nobrainer to have.

Thanks to this thread I just went and got them out again and put in the back of harnesses. If you know it is there, it might actually come in handy some time....good thread. Getting tumbled in waves can be nasty I recon, as it all happens pretty darn fast.

Dont get 2 xited wen u nail sumfin goood! wen i started i landed my first doble back roll on a 13m fuel in about 18 20 knots.. i cranked the kite too hard wen i thought lets try launch big and kite looped n got dragged for about 60 m underwater n hit 4 submerged rocks!!! i thought it was bad enough landing n my body feelin like its on fire n then hittin the rocks topped it off! luky i wore my impact vest. SO basically in ur early stages definitly think about safety vests kz it softens the landings wen u stack it really badly

Not wrong about the vests.

I'm not gonna win Mr overpumped universe, in the style department at least, (I'm a chance in the speedo section cause the other guys are all on the juice and don't have much to show) but mine cost me $90 second hand 2 seasons ago and has saved my bacon or at least minimised the bacon burning several times.

Even after shredded it in the accidetal kiteloop it only cost me a tenner to get it stitched and back in action.

I disloted my shoulder while on the water at Brighton Le Sands. Lucky I had a bow kite which stayed in the air because I could still drag down wind back to shore. It would have been an interesting/swim relaunch with a dislocated shoulder. I also wear an impact vest which i think is good idea because it helps you float. Anyway im really just board so whinging is just a way to pass my time this arvo. Currently recovering from shoulder surgery but must admit it was a problem i collected from footy so cant really blame kiting for it. I am also extremely attractive which helps me get through the day
