G'day guys and gals. I was wondering how hard is it to lern at a beach,, i have had 1 lesson in a lake but would prefer to practice closer to myself i.e. long reef sydney. Im mainly concerned about retrieving my bord in the surf and landing the kite safely ( no1 being there to catch)

I have surfed long reef alot. I dont think id want to kite there until I have at least another 3 or 4 session on flat water. I dont really want to have to deal with surf, loosing my board and swimmers while im learning to.
I can get to lake tuggrah in like 45min. will stick there for a week or 2 i think

it is easy to learn at a beach .. just not a Sydney beach with heaps of people.

My mates taught me at long reef over 3 years ago and I have to agree that is easier to learn on the flat water. In the waves you either have to be well practiced putting your board on(3 to 4 seconds) or you have to body drag out through the surf with your board and then put it on.
In the surf, the board gets knocked off your feet and then while you try to retrieve it, you lose track of the kite and then you get drug back up the sand and have to try all over again.

Don't learn at longreef.
Its a busy beach wit lots of surfers, swimmers, lids, kids etc etc.
If you can't stay upwind and adequetly avoid people then stay away. There have also been issues there over the years with the livesavers not being so keen on us. please don't run the risk of spoiling this spot for everyone.
You better to go slightly north to Narrabeen - right opposite the Narrabeen sands, its a wide beach, isn't anywhere near as busy, has good parking, lots of kiters there in a NE etc etc but best of all the bottle shop is right accross the road for a after seesion sherby or 10.
