A mate and I were booked in for a one week Kite Clinic at Sandy Point(near Wilsons Prom),but due do unforseen circumstances,my mate has had to pull out.I'm posting this because if i had have seen a similar post proir to the last Sandy Point Clinic,I would have booked.

The Clinic runs from the 19-26 Feb.You could book for a full week or 1-2-3 days?.Included is, Accomodation,Meals(I believe,if the winds ripping, lunch is delivered to kite site)instructor(8 days),large range of kite/sailbording gear to use and there is a reduced price option if you have your own gear.

If your interested, contact Tony From R.A.L inovations
media.telstra.com.au/home.html

note:I'm not associated with R.a.l inovations, aside from the fact that I'm booked for a week at Sandy Point.

Thanks for the plug Dopple.

Just to clarify a couple of things.
1. the price reduction is for those only needing accom and meals.
2. We have a range of 06 gear to play with including a 15m F-one Tribal, and 06 KA sails.

There are only 3 beds left.

Bring chocolate for instructor.

Not as fast as the kite was travelling. It was a sweet reunion, like seeing a long lost friend when it apeared

I was up and running and forgot about the fact that I had to get back.Worst thing was, once reunited with the board,I relized my smokes were back at the launch area. It's such a loooooong walk back.
If Parks Victoria want a detailed map of the main sand bank,I can supply one,I spent enough time on the bloody thing

I can understand why you guys/gals are so passionate about the sport,"who needs drugs aye".I think I better learn to go the other way though.

Tony,I've still got ya leash

Hang onto it. I'll use the new one from your 9m.

And be quiet about that patented leash system for your gay kite.

stopper that takes 2 people to release, plus 2 and pliers to refit, also chicken loop that self detaches. All added together, you got it all Steve.

Sandy point ROCKS!! I was out there for my first time last Friday on my 9m switchblade, Think I saw the school and met some guy called Paul. I was just dropping in to check it out but the wind was blowing and the tide was out so I had to jump on my board for a quick session. It was a bit scarey with that lightening coming in from behind but it held off.

Wicked place to kite, can't wait to head back there!

The wicked session was thursday.

one paynesville kiter rocks up sets up his 12 SSTD, steve helps launch him.

Lesson 1276/B kiting at Sandy point.
In a ripping easterly and everyone on the water is on speed sailboards and sub 5m sails. it is probably not kite weather.

this guy was out of control with kite depowered and canopy flapping.

The shudder, stall, invert, with a half twist. must have a cool freestyle name. the drag to wooden sign doesn't need a name.

the statement " I think I've found the upper limit of my SSTD". deserves some award for understatment of the year.

SO.
strong easterlies at Sandy point seem to give a reading on wind meters some 10kts below what it is out there. so 34kts as read that day were not indicative of the real power.

Yep Friday evening for a quick blast at Sandy (actually Shallow Inlet) on 10m Nemi was OK - helped blow away the cobwebs from the circuitous drive.

Breaking my 5th line and having to try and explain to non-English speaking tourists how they could assist me by landing my kite was an experience...
