Can anyone comment on this Kite? Would it be a good beginners kite for a male around 80-85 kg more suited to wake style it is an 07 model. How does it compare to other similar kites? Ive heard the assault has a very good wind range?

Do a search on the forum and the net, tons of reviews on it so you can hear it from all points of view.

It is however my favourite kite to date, responsive and has big wind range. I have had the 9m out in 38kts without feeling scary and I can get going on the 16m in 8kts on a big board. Strong solid construction (not one has come back for warranty claim in 2007 touchwood). Near 100% depower, easy as to relaunch, never inverted on me. I had the Crossbow first, then the Waroo won me over. Well, it did until it started inverting far too often and on one occasion the kite depower rope snapped in the 4th month leaving me hanging in the air hanging on my life lol! No warranty replacement so I decided to sell it lol). Went onto the Assault this season and no other kites have won me over yet. Heavier bar pressure than its brother Havoc but rides more stable. It's easier to learn on than the Havoc as you can feel the kite more. The Havoc is designed with wakestyle in mind but the Assault is still my favourite kite to date! Give us a bell if you are in Brissy and I'll let you try both of them.

That was my absolute honest personal experience and opinion (no pimping involved at all ). Only yesterday I had the Assault up though it got pinched all day by my 45kg team rider

I am by no means trashing the Waroo, they are great kites, and many do say 'wow' after trying it the first time. Unlike the Havoc for example, most people hated it after the first try, cos they cant feel the bar pressure. But after a few more tries, many say it's the sweetest kite they have flown. I didnt have much luck on the Waroo so not the kite for me. But lots of people still love them, just like others love other brands/other kites. Cant say I didnt try, I bought 2 and paid near retail for them. What is good for you may not be good for others. Most important is to find a kite you feel most comfortable and confident with. That way you enjoy the sport to the max everytime you go out.

I'm sure I gave you a new chicken loop for your trashed and neglected bar too!!

But, back to the topic - if you are into wakestyle, surely the mig or havoc would be a better option than the assault?

Nice to know you to max! All the best dude...

No mate, never got one. I asked you twice and you said no stock, I emailed Joe and he said he will send one to me for like $40 which I agreed to pay but it never arrived. Shortly after I even asked the man himself (Mr Best) at one of the roadshows and he told me they are totally out at the time. Just my luck I suppose when it was out of stock I suppose. I am not blaming anyone as I am sure you, Joe or Mr Best would have sorted me out if you guys did have one. I had to put a $65 Sonic loop in when I sold it. It was sold to one of Mike's customer so he can confirm. Nevermind, its all water under the bridge. All part of the learning curve.

why would joe from mackay have any, most of the sellers of best just go online from the states, gee it must be good to NOT support your distributor for Australia.

and if the preverbile hits th fan and your warranty gets forgotton, blame th local sellers, tryin to make the extra buck

learning curve they say, everyone has been there. as they say 'fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.'

Richrelative, Joe is the Australian Rep and Coordinator for Best.
All 'sellers' go through him for stock from OZ or overseas distribution.

And to date I heave not heard of any warranty claim going unanswered.

I personally have had 3 bladders and 1 kite replacement in 3 years - not a bad track record I think. And, to add, the kite was questionable due to rider error (not rpeairing a small cut) which lead to a impact tear.
He got a brand new kite!

Back to the poor bugger's question!!!!

If you are looking at Liquid Force, I would go for a 07 mig or check out the new 08 havoc or mig or even hifi for wakestyle.
