i enjoyed the statement "can't kite? we'll train you!"
So they are prepaired to thow up to 20 newbies on a 200km ocean crossing?
That comment - in brackets & italics - was inserted as a pretty obvious tongue in cheek reference to the standard of kiter required for a 3 day kite trek across 200k's of water. Stated that way to highlight to interested cyclists & runners that if they dont kite they shouldnt consider this leg.
IT WAS A JOKE. I'll see that its deleted to avoid the confusion.
Didnt you get the serious one >>>>>
"Please note this is NOT an introductory Kite Expedition – some knowledge and flying time is essential before entering the Torres Strait – It is a wind and current tunnel and presents many challenges – All Kiters will be assessed before acceptance on the expedition."
As far as a team, or teams, from WA are concerned there will be at least one major downwinder planned once interested kiters make themselves known to ensure all potential candidates are suitably skilled.
Just now looking at the possibility of doing a Mandurah to Scarbs trek. Never heard of anyone doing this section of coast. Any local knowledge from sections of this coast line would be appreciated. If we do a marathon run like this it will be put out there to all comers to join in on the day as part of the fund raising for the Ecare 1000.
