Sounds like my place @ 7pm is the go, I will PM my address to Lemming, WAKSA and some others that have replied on this thread so you can PM them or me for address or ring me on 0419937293.
Any concerned Mullaloo kiters or anyone that may have some input is welcome to attend, feel free to bring along a beer or two but remember that this is a meeting to discuss the issues at Mullaloo, it's not a social event.

From WAKSA:
It seems that kiters are again creating angst with some SLSC officials at
Mullaloo. The waksa crew recently sacrificed themselves to check the place
out first hand one windy afternoon. What a sweet way to prepare for a
meeting. For those who know the area, Mullaloo foreshore, north of the SLSC
- offers an ideal kite beach. Unless it is a very high tide there is a reasonably
wide, straight, flat beach which can and does accommodate a solid crew of
local kiters.

I think she's misquoted WAKSA - I cant find this comment on the WAKSA site, nor does Google find it anywhere but this thread. Someone needs to ask her for her source on this If its false, exposing it would demonstrate she's prepared to tell lies to council, and which would totally sink her credibility.

Seabreeze news section.

www.seabreeze.com.au/News/Kitesurfing/Mullallo-Bans-Pending_2128265.aspx

Not quite sure of her point on this one though. WAKSA publically promotes (for want of a better word) on their main website so not sure why she had had to quote a seabreeze news story.

I note that she chose to exclude the following which was also part of the article.

"We have brochures being printed to hand out to all kiters visiting the area. We will also have large posters up in prominent locations, esp at the AKS trailer at Pinnaroo, giving guidelines particularly for those downwinding from Pinnaroo Pt.

The local beach user group in conjunction with the local school; Kite Boarding Perth; is providing all the relevant info and will be actively distributing leaflets and talking to all possible newcomers. AKS will be doing all they can to educate Pinnaroo kiters of the Mullaloo situation. WAKSA is providing full backing to these groups.

Check the waksa website for downloads of both the brochure & the posters. And please respect the guidelines, the clubbies and the public when kiting anywhere around the Pinnaroo/Mullaloo area."

Hi all,

For reference:

The following local guidelines leaflet was produced in order to help with the self-regulation of kiting at Mullaloo and is handed out to kiters on Mullaloo beach whenever possible.

http://www.waksa.com/files/MullalooFlyer.pdf

In addition a poster was produced (and leaflet versions of this handed out) for Pinnaroo kiters in order that people doing downwinders were aware of the local guidelines.

Cheers

Contact Details for City of Joondalup Mayor & Councils can be found on the Joondalup website
http://www.joondalup.wa.gov.au/cms/templates/coj2_council_pg.asp?id=259

Email the councillors expressing your well thought out, constructive & literate concerns and politely ask the Council to keep Mullaloo open...

A great bit of advise from Juddy, who backed up this advise with an extremely well thought out and worded email.
I urge others to take a few minutes and do the same, you spend countless hours kiting and will spent a lot of time travelling to other locations if we lose access to Mullaloo, so please take a few minutes to put something positive together and forward to Mayor Troy Pickard and Councillors.
I trust they are fair minded people, who are in their positions to serve the whole community, not just a vocal minority with an agenda.

Troy Pickard ..... Fair Minded????

HoHoHoHoHoHoHoHoHo! OH Boy! Have you ever got it WRONG. Or should I say...

FAIL.

Surely, you must realise that politicians are by definition clinical psychopaths - its a pre-condition of employment.

And speaking of rats, there are more than a few RATS IN THE RANKS of Seebreeze, so your sensitive political discussions about this should not be published anywhere online, let alone here.

WAKSA should take this on and keep discussions about political strategy within their membership. Remember, anyone can read this forum. Even the Mayor. Sure, post opinions, but not how you or kiters or WAKSA (et al) should, or intend to, tackle the issue politically, unless its something you'd be happy to have the Councillors and the MUGS also read here for themselves.

Frankly, I invite kiters to publicly (ie here) denounce Councillor Marie Macdonald as having NO CREDIBILITY because the evidence shows she is:
1. Completely misrepresenting WAKSA by taking their public statements out of context
2. Defaming WAKSA by implying WAKSA are disinterested in the issues at Mullaloo when the opposite is the case
3. and therefor, prepared to lie to Council regarding the true issues at Mullaloo and the reasonable steps WAKSA have already taken to control those issues.

I hope the meeting went well and that y'all have a plan. It is sad how one person can stir so much commotion and use some many valuable resources, but I guess that is democracy...or is it?

Similar situation at Melville I'm afraid, but things have been quiet of late. At Melville I have had 3 meetings in the past years all because a very small, but very vocal person(s) has a gripe..........amazing stuff, but some people just like the sound of their ranting and raving.........the emotions and passions they can rise, they must have a very powerful god.

I pray for these people so that they may find happiness some day.

Good luck peoples...reason will prevail, I just wish they would lock the nuts up.

They're lonely people looking for attention.

It is worth noting that Cr Marie Macdonald does not represent Mullaloo. She represents Central Ward, which covers Kalleroo, Craigie, Beldon and Woodvale.

Send an email to Cr Albert Jacob [email protected] and Cr Trona Young [email protected]. They represent Mullaloo and ask them how they feel about another councillor trying to impose legistation in their ward.

Noone else to blame but OURSELVES, kiters doing the right the thing with common sence will never bring bans. Look at the big picture what is happening at Malaloo will spread to all beachers if kiters keep it up. Lets look at Cottelsoe WHY DO KITERS STILL LAUNCH RIGHT IN FRONT OF A SIGN THAT STATES NO LAUCHING WITHON 100 METERS OF THIS PIONT. What else do you expect than there to be a public will to ban kiters when we act in this irrisponsible way. Overseas and out of town kiters make yourself aware of the rules and locals you know the rules obey them. Kitesurfing is a sport that can be in harmony with all other beach activities so long as we respect all other beach users and beach activities. For the GUYS with BIG EGOS please leave the sport now, we dont want you here.

Happy kite surfing and beach activities for all.

I would like to thank all of those that came along to the meeting last night. It was well attended and there were several WAKSA representatives present.

Most of those who came along last night will also be attending the council meeting tonight but more support is always welcome.

The Meeting will be held in the Council Chamber, Joondalup Civic Centre, Boas Avenue, Joondalup, at 7pm sharp.

Whilst it may take a while to get to the motion to ban kitesurfing, we will have a couple of representatives giving statements early in the night during statement time. These individuals have kindly volunteered to represent us all and the more support they get the better.

Guys and Girls,

I can not stress strongly enough the importance of putting on a big show tonight. The Council must see that kitesurfers are represented throughout the community.

Brings your wives, bring your girlfriends (could be dangerous if you bring both at the same time) bring your sons, daughters, brothers etc the more people that turn up the less likely it is that the irational radicals on the Council will get their way.

I will be bringing my whole family.

See you at 7 pm.

For more recent readers of this thread, this was for the pre-council meeting and was held yesterday, Monday 16th. Tightlines, would you please consider editing the post so no confusion? I'll try to get up to Joondalup tonight, Tues 17th (see above posts and seperate thread for details), sick family permitting. Hope to see you all there.
