My buddy Oliver M. came on a little trip with me to Egypt a month or so back and here's what he came up with for me. I'm greatful to have someone like him put something decent together for me, cheers man!

"After Alex got his MRI results back telling him he had a grade 4 loss of cartilage in his knee we decided the best thing possible for it was probably a trip to Egypt to make this little video! Here’s what happened over two different days on our trip. We probably should have filmed more, but hey we were busy having fun. Hope you like it."

Shots are from Soma Bay (7Bft Kite House). Great spot with flat water and a limited number of riders allowed to kite at a time, it's great because it keeps the crowds at bay (unlike other spots).

What is a bogan style of kiting? Please link to non-bogan style of kiting for reference.

Those two words don't go together. Kiting is way too much physical activity for the bogan kind. They like Utes and winny Blues.

Unpolished as best, but they give it a good crack in dunes on bikes up at Lancelin.

It's a custom shape from the magical French shaper Barracuda, often heard but never seen.

^Just a Frontside Bigspin with a skate style 90' type revert. I think it looks confusing because I don't hold on with my back hand as I probably should. If you see the mirror of it off my toes I then have my front hand on (although will be my new back hand) and it's easier to see what happened. Although both those I mentioned are basically the same trick, throwing them off toes or heels behind a kite they feel like a totally different trick (unlike behind cable/ boat).

bene313 do you mean kicker wave or kicker man made . Sir rowdy what size C4 were you using and rough wind knots i'm asking is whats the board speed like with the tranq compared to other freestyle boards like tona pop, airush livewire team AP model. I said those boards cant think of the others but these had some input into your tranq design.

He means wave kickers I think. Solid kickers aren't that great with a skate but can still be fun.

Hmmm, it ranged a little bit but I think I was on a 10-12m most of the video (maybe a few shots on 14m with skate), not sure on the knots but something like 17-24 would probably be about it for most of it. The board speed of the Tranq is what I would call medium. It's not as fast as a flat bottomed low rocker board and it's not as slow as a full channeled high rocker board. I made this board to be a good balance of smoothness, mixed with the ability to have enough speed to do tricks and hit wave kickers in less than ideal conditions. What makes it work as well as it does is the outline and tip-width of the board. Where a lot of other boards (such as Cab Custom) would struggle with their narrow tip outlines the Tranq excels and will help give you that bit extra pop you need. All I can really say is try it and see what you think, if 141 is too big there is still the Billy and Bootleg which are the same just smaller.

Great video! I don't understand what you are doing, but if I was 20 years younger I would be right out there with you, it looks like a blast! Also how difficult is that stuff with the wakeskate to learn? It strikes me as being quite hard.

Hmmm... I would say it's probably the hardest thing I've learnt behind the kite.
You can also do things that are easier to learn on the skate, like being hooked-in and keeping your kite above your head (surfboard style), but if you want to keep it strictly wakeskate style (unhooked, kite at 45') it's quite frustrating to learn. Some of the bails/ crashes also seem to end up even worse than when I'm on a twin-tip because your legs can penetrate the water and stop whilst your top half keeps moving hahaha.
