Yeh I think the jellyfish is the thing I've battled with in high winds. Because the rebel sits back in the window, probably reduces this. Will demo one asap, cheers dave.

Hey Marv,

I rode the 11m Edge today in 28-30 knots. UNBELIEVABLE!

Great control for a kite with limited depower. Boosts HUGE and hangtime forever.

Go large, swing under the kite until it is upwind of you, then pull a very slow lazy kiteloop upon landing. SO MUCH FUN!

My abs are killing me!

Daz was by far the most excited i've seen in ages!!! And those boosts looked so nice and floaty in the wintery wind yesterday

Hi,

yea i found the Edge 11m pretty hard to depower over 20knts.
Gotta give it a go. Easy boosting, kite high, bar in an gliiiiidddddee

Hey Marv,

I had about 1 inch of depower and was LIT! Keeping the speed down on the board and the kite at or below 45 degrees makes for easy control. approach the launch spot, bring kite up smoothly and sheet in, crank the turn and hold the edge the best you can, that's it. Hardest part is slowing down after the kite loop at the end of the jump, the downwind speed is very hard to wash off without advanced riding techniques ie carving away from the kite to push it to neutral and reduce board speed.

Super fun! I'd recommend to the average rider not to fly the Edge 11m in more than about 25-28 unless you know what you are doing. I weigh close to 90 kilos FYI

Look no further than the Griffin Chimera 6.5 its the most amazing high wind kite ever built, i was out on one the other day in 30-42 knots unreal air and float but so user friendly you could still throw loop flips and loop transitions whenever you wanted was a joy to ride, absolutely eats the gusts, everyone else packed it in and i had the ride of my life, awesome kite, and sweet combo with the cardboards wave ,i can get going in as low as 16-18 with this combo,by far the best high wind option avail.

hey radman fellow CB wave rider. Haven't heard much about this kite, will check it out. What is it in its design you think that allows this performance.

Chimera is a four strut kite ,has no centre strut so catches and holds wind with no deflection in the canopy, maintains its shape in the worst poss conditions,i've had this kite out once in 18 gusting 38 ,crazy explosive gusts and the kite still preformed awesome,we get some of the gustiest conditions here in wgtn and this kite eats anything you can throw at it,try to get a demo and compare well worth the effort.

Funny. The kAhoonS are a 4 strut kite and the cAnopy flutters All the time in high winds. Weird. Must be the bridle design.

The difference being Griffin were the orig innovators of the centreless strut design and have refined it over the years to what it is today, rather than other manufacturers who have copied the concept and given it a go without much success.
These kites are stable as and dump power so quick they are a joy to ride especially in gusty conditions, thats where they excell the most.

What does that mean. Can we have a post with a frank discussion without the 'Pimp' bull****. Piss off if you have nothing constructive to say. Stop wasting peoples precious seconds. I'm sure you are a top bloke with a genuine concern, but not here mate, go and whinge on another post - there are plenty out there where you can dump the pimp crap on people.

Pimp away....
