Sounds like a great trip Ric but I've already got other plans, damn what a shame..... I will just have to make do with Mauritius

Yah Yah, That would be good, but having access to any spot via the mother ship and it's tenders will be something special

PNG does sound good, I will have to add it to the list.
I hope you score well and I will be after some feedback when you return.

...where the natives are way better looking - should be a far more suitable kite trip for a man of your talent.

Steady on there Puppet, you will scare any potential girlfriends away.
I think you may have me mistaken for someone else, I'm just your average single man that happens to be lucky enough to have some lovely female friends.

Sounds like the yam festival in PNG is the place to be if you are chasing women, Im looking for wind and waves.....well during the day anyway.

bahahah!

PNG is a A+ cruise all about wind, waves, kiting, fishing, diving, the culture and the people in the villages/islands.

if you are chasing lady-boys and the like you have to go to Bali, Vietnam or Thailand

We are waiting on final details of goup booking with the airline, but it will be a late AM depature from Brisbane and a PM return to Brisbane.

But you can make your own way there and back on virgin, jetstar or png airlines
SOme of the above also fly from Sydney and Cairns

The group booking will be done with png Airlines which also happen to have about 32kg included luggage

I was lucky enough to get to do this trip year last. It was a pretty sick experience and we got some epic conditions as well.

The boat was amazing. Nice rooms as well as a lounge room with a tv, dvd player, etc. The food was epic too. Buffet style breakfast lunch and dinner all included with some of the best food I have ever eaten

For flat water the place is great. Perfect little offshore sandy islands with nice glassy, warm water. I had such a great trip and I'd recommend this trip to anyone else who is keen. There's also so the extra baggage allowance the PNG surfing association offers. Something like 50kg you can take which is always a bonus. Anyway if your heading over on one the upcoming trips, enjoy it, it's an amazing place.

Cheers,
Keahi

Yah, I spoke to the lady today and she says they have these specials every now and then, but they are not on their website?

Normally only $436 to fly to port moresby anyway (plus the internal flight we are also booked on that is another $86)

just to tease...... conditions for port moresby this week. while it was a late start to the season this year the wind has been very good now that it has settled in to the SE trades (lahara). if hula is on your itinerary add 5-10 knots to that wind speed. Milne bay will be similar forecast to POM a touch less maybe.

LIke teh 10pm forecast

Is there any actual observations you guys look at (so we can view from down here), or do you just use the Palm tree method

What about the winds down around the Conflict Group, the Bramble Group and Wari island, I guess they would be similar to Hula ?

I see virgin have a special on now tooooo
Return from brisbane to Port Moresby $368 including the extra 23kg luggage
But PNG air give a huge 32KG including any internal flights

A windy tropical destination in our winter on our door step guys with a variety of flat & waves

as a general rule: as a high moves east across australia we will have excellent wind. the stronger the high and the further north it sits the better.

you can try

www.bom.gov.au/marine/wind.shtml <-- choose queensland - north and it will show the southern section of PNG and the islands you want to check on. not really sure how accurate it s in the eastern islands but it will give you some idea.

buoy weather is pretty accurate and wind guru is good as a guide but usually 5 knots under at least.
